i think it's pretty clear the pats are playing to prove how much better than everyone else they are. they are sick of hearing about how they are a 'system' team, they are sick of taking all the blame for something lots of teams were doing, they probably think they don't get enough respect because they don't put up insane stats (until now). i think the pats players really don't want to hear any more about how they get by with inferior talent because BB is such a good coach. they want to prove that being a cohesive unit doesn't mean that everyone just has to quietly, mechanically execute. they don't want to hear about how their dynasty is headed downhill.
they have a real reason for playing this way. somebody woke the sleeping giant and they are on a [censored] rampage. you can like it or hate it, but there's nothing unusual about that kind of attitude from an athlete. a lot of the greats are characterized by their urge for TOTAL victory. |

they are sick of taking all the blame for something lots of teams were doing [/ QUOTE ] I'm amazed that Pats fans (which I am not) continue to say this as if it were proven fact. You don't even say "probably doing", just "were doing". This is fascinating because I haven't seen any proof that any of the other 31 teams did this, but I'd be happy to look at any articles or evidence that someone can provide me. Not only did Belichick get caught doing it against Green Bay last year, a memo was sent out basically saying "DONT DO IT!" and then he did it again in the first game of the season. Playing the "Patriots as the victim" card is so ridiculous. |

[/ QUOTE ] I think the reasonable approach to watching the Pats (as a non-Pats fan) is to appreciate how awesome they are, never complain about them running up the score, and save up energy for laughing at them when some key player gets hurt. Its not that I'm HOPING someone gets hurt, its just that they have absolutely no sympathy if it does happen since they brought it on themselves. Which is fine by me, they can take on whatever risk they happen to feel is acceptable to reap the rewards they are going for. I think its awesome. As a non-Pats fan, I get to watch 60 minutes of awesomeness, and if Brady gets hurt I don't care because I could care less if the Pats win the SB. |

I agree the players' accomplishments and reputations were probably unfairly tarnished by their coach's decision to cheat. But I think Belichick is EVERY BIT the villain he is made out to be. And if their reputation and accomplishments have been brought into question, they go out there and they're like "We're just gonna play football, do our thing" etc(humble pie), but then why are they jumping around and spiking footballs on a TD that makes it 45-0 in the 4th? I almost get the vibe like Belichick has this wacked out mentality and it's starting to trickle down to the players. |

[/ QUOTE ] While I agree with most of what you said, this is lol. BB: "I think we're going to put some subs in, we're up 42-0" Brady and Co. "But coach, we're sick of hearing about how it's all your scheme and us players don't really matter that much." BB: "Ok, get back in there" It's all BB, but I'm sure the players do back him up 100%. |
