Both of these are fine and I play them the exact same way you did.

On hand 1, the only hand that's beating you on the turn is JT. You can't give MP2 credit for that specific hand just because he raises; there are lots of two-pair hands out there as well. When he caps, it's time to just call down.

On hand 2, the turn is too scary to raise IMO (and you would have to call a 3-bet), so just calling and hoping for a board pair is fine. Call the river and hope he has two pair or a pair and a diamond fd or something similar.
