Point taken. Partially, the variance will depend on playing style. But you're still right that I missed the mark on which game is higher var.

Yeesh, being TAG is so much easier than being LAG...Can you effectively 8-10 table doing all these things? I would think its a nightmare. No doubt you will possess many skills that I will never tap into, but I think I'm comfortable with that.

[/ QUOTE ]

I refer you to Grimstarr's posts regarding 9-tabling as a LAG. Its a miracle of miracle's he isn't BUSTO!

[/ QUOTE ]

It's VERY difficult to be an effective LAG playing more than 3 tables imo. I personally have never done it. You definately grow as a player when you play this style though.

P.S. As a respone to your previous post. My inital post wasn't very thought out. I was posting it more as a personal experience, with the intent on sharing the session. Of course now that I'm not tired and it's a new day, I can recognize how threatening what I said is to players egos (which is natural, there's a lot of ego involved in poker, even if you are quite humble). If I were to post over I wouldn't include my win rate or state that the game is "crushable". I honestly do think that 100PTB/100 at this level playing 2-3 tables is not ludicrous, but then again, people have said my winrate playing 6-8 tables was not sustainable, but it was.

I don't think winrate is a direct reflection of a players skill level. As most people know, there are MANY other factors in maintaining a high winrate - most of them being psychological and pertaining to unknown influences that a person has that effects their psyche.

[ QUOTE ]

I'm curious about this item. You're main point is you are trying to induce them to bet at you. Wouldn't laying down to a reraise also do this? Wouldn't this encourage them to come over the top at you more?

[/ QUOTE ]

1) I'm raising to take control of the hand, get it HU's and out play my opponents post flop. If I continually fold after a re-raise, then I won't see a flop.
2) How often am I going to get a good hand versus a bad hand? I want to apply pressure and make my opponents play out of their "comfort zone". Again, I can't apply this tactic if I continue to fold to re-raises.

[ QUOTE ]

He's essentially even until the last two hands. Which is kind of sad considering he previously stacked 2 people with overpairs earlier. Then 2nd to last hand, he's behind to an overpair and has $10 left when he catches a 2 outer for trip nines on the river then wins a stack.

Last hand, he's way behind until he catches an inside straight draw on the river and some moron gives up his stack from what was a $5 pot.

I'm sure he can beat $25NL, but this session definitely isn't a demonstration on how to do it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think you understand what I'm saying really. Lag play = the end result. I've had sessions that were longer that I've stacked a lot more people. Really I didn't hit any great flops or get in situations where I outflopped an overpair, which is where I stack off these guys everytime.

As far as the second to last hand. I had a decent feeling that I was beat on the turn here. BUT this opponent had been playing back at me with Ace high and other hands. When I called this bet I thought he pushed, I'm not sure exactely what happened. Also, he played this hand bad AND I had 5 outs not 2 .

also I don't know how you guys think that LAG play would thrive at 25nl. Being a LAG relies heavily on folding equity, of which you have none at 25nl with the loose/passive play.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not true. One aspect, or tactic to use as a LAG is to get people to lay down better hands that yours, which won't work at a limit like this. A better LAG tactic at this level is to get people to play back at you when they have medicore hands and you have a better hand. That's exacetly what I was doing here. I wasn't trying to force people off a hand when I knew they had something and weren't going anywhere.

You did generate the action. But you did get lucky in all but the qq hand. The 999 hand is really bad on your part. The wheel was very fortunate.

I like 34 hand where u raised the weak lead. Good manipulation there. But I am too dumb to see how you manipulated them to do exactly what you wanted.

100 ptb/100 come on. Simply not possible. No matter how well you hand read and manipulate Variance will rear its ugly head and bite you in the ass.

I'll close by saying that I've read many of your posts and found them quite insightful and helpful. I have not found this thread helpful for beginners or more experienced players>>

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess I'm just a long term luckbox. It's funny because I see very little luck here. For a LAG session I think I was actually much more unlucky than lucky. Like I said, I really didn't get into situations where people began to slowplay their big hands pre-flop and I raised with 94o and hit 2 pair on the flop. It was a fairly standard session that didn't generate a lot of luck for me imo. The 999 hand, I thought he pushed and that's why I called. I didn't think I was ahead though, but win or lose I was indifferent about the hand.

I guess I could post other sessions and explain each of the hands and my thought process. I would think that some of the information would be helpful, even explaining my tactics here I *thought* would at least generate discussion, and perhaps offer some insight.

On a side note, forget the 100PTB/100, It's stupid of me to defend this position, even if I beleive it. If I had a slightly bigger ego I'd do it just to prove my point, but for what reason? To prove you guys wrong. I have better things to do.

lol, this is great stuff. someone runs well in one session on NL25 and assumes that they can win every hand they play their. Dude...100PTBB/100 is not sustainable

[/ QUOTE ]
There is no reason to think FreakDaddy assumes 100ptbb/100 is sustainable.
He is an experienced player.
He is trying to make a point.

In retrospect I regret this post.

BTW, I think 4_2_it has the image of the horse being beaten to death.

[/ QUOTE ]

Haha... Let me be clear. I don't think this number is sustainable at another limit at another site. I do think it's possible playing 2-3 tables and a hyper aggresive LAG style.

Want some poker insight? Know thy self...

Why do you think the statement that 100PTB/100 is sustainable upsets so many people that they feel the need to respond, rant, etc...? If they truely knew it was absurd, they really don't need to say anything. Just laugh at me and call me an idiot to themselves.
(Can't wait for the post that says that's what I was doing).

Do you guys not want to learn from more experienced players?

[/ QUOTE ]

They'd rather learn from insightful posts from experienced players.

Oh Skeme, I tought we had an agreement. You know I've allowed you to stick around in my poker group because I understand that punk kids like you still need love, oh and also because Ryan convinced me. Even despite the fact that everyone else wants you out.

[/ QUOTE ]

You ran good.

[/ QUOTE ]

Na. I got them to play back at me, or tell me exactely where they stood. I had crap cards the whole time. My best hand was a pair of queens. There's a point somewhere in this post, I was debating on posting the whole session for SSNL players to learn. I dunno... I'm not playing nl25 again anytime soon.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can assure you that your cards in these sessions are MUCH better than what I routinely see at Pokerroom at these levels....
