20 is pretty big. 25% possible.
Higher limits cut those numbers in half or even take 1/3 of them if you're talking really big games. |

I play HU PLO8 sng's and i'm not comfortable with moving up unless i have at least 100 buyins. I waited till 1000 for 10s, 2000 for 20s, 3000 for 30s, and 5k for 50s
If you are supposed to be good enough to play 100s, then there is no reason why you or I cannot wait until we have 10K which is a very safe amount to play at that level. |

[/ QUOTE ] It isn't a matter that you can't wait, it is a matter that you shouldn't if you can safely move up sooner. If you can pull in $2/game average at $10 buy ins and $4/game average at $20 buy ins, there is no reason to not move up once your bankroll is "safe" enough. If you know you are a winning player, with a bankroll of $400 you can easily take a shot with 1-3 buy ins at $20 and drop back down if you are lose. It isn't enough that you will go busto, but it can give you an early boost into building your roll if it kicks off well. If you get a decent start you would end up getting to $2000 in half the games. In real circumstances the jump in average profit probably won't be that big, but it is still significant enough that it is worth a try. Daniel Negreanu wrote an article that is kind of on this topic, some of you might find it to be an interesting read: http://www.cardplayer.com/magazine/article/16963 |

I think theres a major misconception of Indys "grinder" and "gambler" comparison.
Its not gambling at all trying to move up asap even if you dont know whether you can beat that limit yet. It would be gambling if you stayed there after you found out that you cannot beat it. |

http://www.cardplayer.com/magazine/article/16963 [/ QUOTE ] Ignore that article, it is poor. As someone said (I think it was ChicagoRy), it is just Daniel Negreanu trying to tell himself that playing some unprofitable (or less profitable than necessary) games, which he sometimes does, is smart in the long run. Johnny is an idiot and Larry is an idiot. You should play at the tables you think you are most profitable at within your bankroll. It is that simple (well, thatīs not 100% accurate, but close enough). Letīs call the guy doing that Haggar:

Of course everyone has a little bit of both caracthers inside them. It is just like a black and white, Johnny and Larry.
