And yes to everything in your second paragraph and also yes to the concept of throwing her off guard saying things like it's past your bedtime if it's 10am.

Tough for OP to pretend he doesn't care what this girl who he DOESN'T EVEN KNOW thinks if it took him 3 attempts over 3 hours to still end up with a message that will fair much much worse than "inside?".
