I think most rule books include passages about players being civil to each other and the staff. Which leaves open for interpretation where the line is. But any floor who gets called over for the third time because you're belittling someone's play could invoke that rule and ask you to vamoose.

If you are ever at Foxwoods, it is posted on the wall. It is enforced when someone talks too much and too mean.

[ QUOTE ]
Yelling fire in a crowded theatre when no fire exists creates unnecessary panic and the potential for injury, etc. [/ QUOTE ] Right. Whereas the tension, aggression, hurt feelings, departing fish, etc., that you create by shouting about how someone plays K6, they're all necessary things are they? |

For the 2nd time, you are comparing potential for injury and death to simple words.
If someone's feelings are being that badly hurt by you berating their play at a NL Hold Em cash game table, they need to thicken their skin, and realize that life is tough and people won't always be nice. In your world, do you not deal with worse verbal issues in everyday life than someone saying you're a fish for turning a gutshot? Thje departing fish angle has already been covered. Nothing but a myth. They leave, at most, on a rare occasion. This whole thing that fish suddenly head for the hills because you laugh at them is a fallacy. As for tension, the nature of the game is tense as it is. As stated, you're playing to win and playing for monetary gain, at your highest level of ability. Naturally, there's tension. Too bad if someone wants to shed tears over me snickering at their bottom pair calldown. |

Firestorm, which is more important to you when you're at a poker table: to have others acknowledge your superior poker analysis skills or to maximize your winrate?

I believe this has been covered again. However, for you anti-free speech nits, I'll say it again. Table talk isn't an amazingly important facet of the game, it may be good, neutral or at times detrimental. Usually it makes very little difference, and you can use it to your advantage if you wish. It's not about people knowing that you have superior analytic skills. It may be because you're blowing off steam, it may be because you're not a patient enough person to sit there all day like a rock, it may be because you're like me, a verbally aggressive person by nature. Point is, it's your business.

[/ QUOTE ] You are right, it is rare that the fish leaves the table as a result of the verbal bashing. However, let's think a little longer term on this one shall we?? Put yourself in the bad players shoes. You play poker for fun and you are a long term losing player. Being a losing player, your only incentive to play is the fact that you like to gamboool and again to have fun. But, every time you go to the casino and get hit in the face by the deck, you get berated by the "real" players. Time to find a new and less expensive hobby. The +EV way to handle these players is to have them go home broke yet talking with their friends about how much fun they had. (like the strip clubs do) Don't even try to say that this isn't true, because it is. It is the very reason that I no longer play golf. I was a crappy golfer and I only had fun on the course when I would drink a lot and make an arse of myself. This pizzed off the "real" golfers because I sometimes got loud and did some stunt driving in the cart. I eventually quit playing since every time I had fun, I caught a bunch of crap for it. In conclusion, stop pizzing off MY fish!!!!! |
