Default Re: University of Casual Sex and Beer= Best Party.....I mean Poker School?

Just graduated from UCSB in JUNE, i am a well studied player, but would say i gained 75% of my skillz in live college games. they were somewhat popular and in the dorm/town as i am sure it is all over most college campuses. one thing that bred the popularity of the home game moreso in SB could be that 20k kids live in about 1sq mile.... everyone knows everyone and everything, where to get this, where to get that.. and most off all where the home games are. further there is only one casino local to SB (chumash 45 min drive) unless you wanna make a 1:30min commute to LA for the Bike or 1:40 for commerce.. The play at chumas i would say is fairly strong compared to most other abstract casinos. Further, some players many kids, from years i was in SB, were known to frequent the "players club" in ventura, i only went once, but will comfirm it spread a 500+ (no max) buy in with 5-10 blinds.
while this post only confirms a few aspects of the town and enviroment, it does little to provide reasons as to why so many tourny winners (or recently sucessfull players) have came out of sb in the the last 5 years...

oh yea there was the one kid not listed from 2004 or 2005 who showed up like 2 hrs late on the 22ns to last day before FT. forgot his name, but he went to Santa Barbara City College, and surly lived in Isle Vista (the uscb college town)....

cheers.
