So I wanna take an aggressive shot at 2/4 with just under 20 buyins.. is there anything different between the 1/2 regs and the 2/4 regs, or is it like the jump from .5/1 to 1/2 (more aggression, but not necessarily smarter aggression)?

I haven't played the 1/2 in so long I honestly don't remember the differences, but I would highly discourage taking a shot w/ less than 20 buy in's. If you're a winning player @ the 1/2 (which I assume you are and that's why you're trying to move up), just play there for another 2 weeks, save up 30-40 buy in's for this level and take a shot then. Best of luck if you do try it though....

There is definitely a decent jump in the skill between regulars, but if you're doing well at $200nl you should be ok at $400nl. 20 buyins is really shallow though, if I were you I'd perhaps take a 2-3 buyin shot and see how it goes, dropping down if you lose the buyins. I think your best off following GD's advice and just stay at $200nl for a little while and grind out more of a bankroll.

is it really that painful to make $150/hr for another couple of weeks until you know for sure you have earnt the right to move up? people are always asking about this, it just seems like a lack of confidence in your own abilities like you want to run good into a real bankroll. if you are a solid winner at your current level grinding a bankroll for the one above should take very little time.

nits. 20 buyins is more than enough for a shot as long as he knows he's taking a shot.

Okay, I played for about an hour 4-tabling and it doesn't seem too much different. Just had a question on some of these plays:

1.
Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $2/$4 Blinds - 4 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

Hero (SB): $487.60
BB: $352.20
UTG: $666.90
BTN: $406.00

Reads: Villain is 41/5 over 40, already down 1/2 buyin just splashing around and being a donk.

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 Players)
2 folds, Hero raises to $16.00, BB calls $12.00

Flop: ($32) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero bets $32.00, BB raises to $64.00, Hero raises all-in to $471.60, ($270 to him)

2.
Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $2/$4 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $399.95
BB: $656.40
UTG: $248.40
Hero (CO): $438.20
BTN: $343.10

Reads: Villain is 20/17 over 60, he's somewhat tricky, but had a few failed float attempts against a reg. (Possibly a TAGfish)

Preflop: Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 Players)
UTG calls $4.00, Hero raises to $20.00, BTN raises to $55.00, 3 folds, Hero raises all-in to $438.20

3.
Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $2/$4 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $467.70
BB: $443.00
Hero (UTG): $516.30
CO: $269.40
BTN: $269.55

Reads: Villain was 25/13, and the only big pot I saw him play, he coldcalled preflop in position, he called a c-bet on a TT7 flop, called again on a 6 turn, and then bet like 1/2 pot on a Q river when checked to (it didn't get shown down)

This hand he clicked on his timebank and it ran down 10 seconds or so before he minraised

Preflop: Hero is dealt K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 Players)
Hero raises to $14.00, 2 folds, SB calls $12.00, BB folds

Flop: ($32) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
SB checks, Hero bets $32.00, SB calls $32.00

Turn: ($96) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
SB checks, Hero bets $80.00, SB raises to $170.00, Hero folds
Uncalled bet of $90.00 returned to SB

Pot Size: $256.00 ($3 Rake)

If this isn't appropriate to post here, or if this is too many hands to post, just flame me; I didn't wanna start a thread for these when they seem like pretty basic spots.

1) 41/5 seems like a loose passive to me, so he could very well have 2 pairs here already.I'd call and reevaluate turn in several cases, but in SB vs BB shoving here is ok as well, you have at least 4 outs to the virtual nuts even if you are behind, 7 if he has AT, bunch of others if he has KT and in a lot of cases you are ahead.

2) I prefer to make it like 170 here, a shove often looks so suspicious that they call with TT-JJ, while they can't just call half their stack with med pair, cause they don't know what to do on the flop.

3) I am not folding here against anyone but the absolute nits.Have to stack off on that board. His small c/r does look a bit suspicious though.
