Whatever. I know that shorthand too, because I saw it on a documentary recently. And I'm constantly getting into arguments where I take the "anti-white" position on racial issues in America.

Here's the thing. "88" is associated with overt hateful racism. Someone who knows the shorthand is probably either a proud racist, or just learned the slang off of TV or something. If someone who knows the slang says they're not racist, it's unlikely they're in the KKK, so I'm not sure it says anything about them. I know the name of a couple of white power leaders too. That doesn't mean I believe in their bulls---.

I rarely say "I'm not a racist" though. Generally, people who aren't racist don't have to point that out.
