Marlo is pretty sweet. "You want it to be one way, but it's the other way."
Frank Sobotka is my pick. A truly great tragic figure of American drama. The scene where he yells at his lobbyist about drinking Tang is awe-inspiringly fantastic. Prezbo and Bodie are remarkable for their character development, but I'd spoil S4 to go into more detail. I also hate Brother Mouzone. Comic book character, just too overplayed. My favorite String line, which is IMO way underrated, is in Season 3 when Bodie meets him at the waterfront. Bodie tells him he got arrested and Stringer tells him "You shouldn't sell drugs." Brilliant. |

Bodie goes and tells him he got rounded up by the cops, and Stringer tells him, 'You shouldn't sell drugs'. Bodie looks confused for a second, then lifts up his shirt to show he wasn't wired, then they talk about business as usual. |

1. Omar
2. Stringer My next level is a couple step downs. D'Angelo, Bunk, Randy, Cutty. After that I could include basically any character. Also while we are quoting/linking random videos. One of my favorite scenes in the series. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrSy9r0-lMg And Al you didn't ruin The Wire for me someone posted that Wallace got killed. People have commented on the development of Prez and Bodie, but I think another character that has really developed nicely from season 1 is Carver. Another thing how would you rate the theme songs? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou30NabS_uM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icdNrobvrv4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgvevfLSwCI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxPDc7YP3Ck |

The music to s2 is by far the best, but it's totally ruined by the singer's Grover impression. I'd also give the overall crown to s1.

[/ QUOTE ] You're mean. Sorry man. Friends have tried pushing him, but I just never got it. In this song especially, he sounds like a monster. I'm guessing that that whoever chose the theme agreed with me, since they picked a cover for s1 and only unveiled this one once they had an audience. |

I don't know how everyone in this thread has ignored Carver. In terms of development and sheer force, the guy is amazing. While I agree other characters in the show have better lines and more snappy dialog, Carver's scenes are the true [censored]. He evolved from a lazy [censored] into an effective police who really does care. He's still got awesome lines and his scenes with Herc over the years have really shown a broad range. If anyone exemplifies the good of the show, it's either Carver or Bunny. And Carver's better.

That scene where he and Herc are driving to pick up Bodie from the juvy prison makes me want to gouge out my eyeballs. |
