I saw some guy get first place money with only 50% of the chips remaining.

It appears to be entirely possible to get more than first place money as a big stack. Makes you wonder if a denial-of-service attack or whatever could be +EV.

the way i read it (for tourneys not ITM) was that if you are very far from the money but only have 1 chip you receive your entire buyin back. but with ICM 1 chip far from the money is worth much less than that.
