Don't for a moment confuse PUA with "picking up girls"...

[/ QUOTE ]

PUA means someone who picks up girls. So I think your statement is pretty silly...your previous point has merit but I don't think people put much thought into the alternative of being a social robot. For many guys it's really the only way they can get themselves on the path to "real" social skills with women.

Did you read The Game? I thought you had. Mystery "programmed" his followers with specific techniques. I mean PUA in this sense, not hotshots who "have game". It was pretty clear that Mystery was not interested in just "picking up girls".

PS Sorry for "all the quotes".

Designing techniques and their effects/results were more important to him than actually picking up girls. He was definitely socially [censored] up

This is going to be a fantastic trainwreck of a television program. So, pretty much par for the course with VH1 (or Bravo or E!).

Oh, I see. Yeah I totally disagree with this but it's not like either of us know Mystery or anything.

I will reply to this thread quickly because I have to meet up with some friends in 5-10 minutes.

I read a lot of PUA stuff at one point and all it taught me was that women are a big freeroll, and that I have the ability to channel my humor to create humorous social situations without fear of embarassment.

No, but you could get most of this from reading the first few pages of The Game (if you believe it). Read the whole thing, and the guy is perhaps even displaying sociopathic behaviour. He's conducting experiments, basically.

My quote above is paraphrased but Neil Strauss basically said the same thing towards the end. It might be greatly fictionalised, of course.

I remember in junior high I used to neg-hit the cute girls all the time. And they ate it up. Like: "Here's this normal shlub giving me [censored]. Apparently he knows something I don't. I must find out." I didn't get any, as I'm a loser, but it did get me to the doorstep.

The sometime around college most of the smart/secure girls, the ones I gave a crap about, wised up and that [censored] stopped working. There was an adjustment period for me. So basically this stuff works on the dumb/insecure girls that are still going to clubs to get picked up well into their 30s.

Everything you say leads me to believe you are v confused by what you've actually read and have added a bunch of assumptions/guesses in order to make sense of it.

This is a very odd non-sequitur. I don't think any cares about middle-school girls.

Being an interesting person, having interesting and/or funny things to say to women you don't know, and demonstrating higher status works on 100% of women.

There's a reason why really hot models [or any good looking 21-35 yr old] don't date the boring guy, with nothing to say who works as the night janitor at McDonalds.

Just because someone[s] has formalized a set of [obvious] concepts for guys who have trouble talking to unknown, good-looking women in bars/clubs doesn't make it sociopathic, that's ridiculous.

Your assertion that smart women don't like interesting, funny, clever guys who look/are successful and may dress differently than you do is also really, really absurd. Also, calling women 'well into their 30s' as 'insecure girls' is pretty telling.
