Frog legs: not bad but wouldn't eat again. Not tasty enough to justify eating that nasty little thing
Snails: texture is exactly like you'd expect. It's kinda slimy and crunchy at the same time. The only thing that makes it almost edible is the garlic butter. Soft Crab: Usually deep-fried. Only crab i know that you eat *with* the shell. It's actually really nice. The shell taste a bit like fried chicken skin. Brain: Veal or lamb. I used to love it when i was a kid. Boiled with a little bit of lemon juice. I haven't eaten any in years and don't think i will. |

[/ QUOTE ] No, they have shed their shell and are harvested before forming another. If I recall, the process is called molting and the crabs are blue crabs. These are standard fare in the mid atlantic region and very popular with thai and other asian restaurants as well as traditional seafood places. J |

In Florida I knew a guy who would have cookouts with whatever he caught recently. Usually it would be some Alligator tail and maybe some Venison.
Yummy. I had a moose-burger in Alaska. Gamier than a regular hamburger although if I hadn't known it was moose I can't be sure I would have noticed the difference (some hamburgers do taste different than others afterall). In Peru I sampled some Guinea Pig and also had some Alpaca. I was okay with the Guinea Pig but not entirely thrilled. My GF was delerious though as it had been several years since she had had her favorite delicacy from her home country. Weird. I ended up being really sick shortly after I had the alpaca. But I wasn't feeling too fabulous even before dinner so I'm not sure it had anything to do with it. Also had some breakfast-type meat that looked kind of like dark sausage that might have been the most disgusting tasting thing I've ever had in my life. I'm thinking one could get a similar taste by drenching ground tennis-shoes in motor-oil. I'm not even sure what it was. GF and her parents were scarfing it down though (which seemed phycially impossible to me). Maybe I'll remember to ask her "what was that weird sausage-thing that gave me the horrible reaction at breakfast that one time." Recently had cow-heart prepared by my GF's mom. Pretty tough-ish meat as one might expect. I just thought it was a toughish beef on a shish-kabob until I was informed I had just eaten cow-heart. Haven't tried intestines yet but that might come at some point in the future I suppose. |

Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima, Japan...many of the restaurants as well as the big supermarket feature raw horsemeat. I couldn't bring myself to try it, but even the American expats who work here swear by it.

Sausage stuff you were talking about might be black pudding. It is a blood sausage which is literally congealed blood with filler. It is a pretty standard part of an English breakfast.

I recently had some at an argentinean restaurant, it was flavoured with cinammon and some other spices and tasted almost sweet. Really good stuff. |

I think she might have mentioned something about blood when I asked "WTF?" I swear it tasted like rubber and motor-oil though. |
