He is an example that must be made to show the repercussions of cheating, if party or stars just slaps him on the wrist then its unfair to everyone that played against him and would certainly encourage others to cheat because they can get away with it. Taking his 100K was certainly not harsh and people shunning a cheater is not unreasonable.
Zee had nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing what he did, he built up quite a name and pissed it all away. I dont have any pity for him and no one else should either. He knows what he did was wrong and i hope that he regrets cheating and not regretting getting caught. He really should find a new career path because this will haunt him the rest of his life as it should. |

typically, i am against posting on this subject matter because my opinion will likely not be heard or taken seriously. this will be my first and likely last post regarding it.
I would first like to point out that i did not read the hundreds of useless posts in this thread, for half of them are "zj sucks" or "i agree" posts which cloud forums and are NEVER of use to ANYONE. On that note, i ask that all of you think about what you post. I love to hear opinions and POVs but i also enjoy posts with substance. If you hate or like this post, great...doesnt matter to me, just dont post a 3 word reply about what you thought of it. moving on: if these rumors have been squashed, great. I dont know ZJ personally but ive emailed with him, watched him play, and know people that are friends of his directly. Is he arrogant? probably (i would be if i were him). Stupid? no. what he is is a nice kid that tried to take an unethical advantage over something that he got caught in. There was never colluding involved in his unethical efforts other than those times that he was placed at his own table in an MTT (and specifically tried to negate this advantage himself). the FACT is that he is an accomplished player who did not cheat in his stars 500k win in ANY WAY. I personally believe banning him from partypoker is a legitimate punishment. Taking estimated funds made from possible unethical advantages also fair. To strip him of 100k for trying to gain an edge that didnt effect too many people in too big of a way in a few MTTs? The kid only played the sunday majors and had 2 big scores. I also dont think that judging his statement does anything. If he acted innocent and more apologetic would that solve the situation or make his crimes any different? I do think he could have seemed more apologetic, i didnt like his statement's tone, but he did present valid points and made it clear what happened. I condemn what justin did. i disagree with it and i believe by definition it too is cheating. Punish him for it, but no one sees what is really going on here. Many replies are out here on this issue and the ones that are not "omg omg omg" state that hes a good kid that went wrong. partypoker doesnt handle these issues individually, they seemingly take a violation and their policy is to strip a player of their money and ban him. pokerstars does otherwise and i commend lee jones' team for doing so. once i used a website a friend sent me to look at player profiles and i got an email from party saying "if you use this website you will be banned and stripped of funds". It was a website telling me if i was a bomb or a shark. wtf? my point is that individual care needs to be taken in these situations. if after investigation, partypoker decided rationally to do what they did, fine. intent is very important and they owe ANYONE the respect to do so. the fact that their policy from me looking at a website to zeejustin multi entering to specific colluders cheating is to strip everyone of everything related to their site in all situations is just wrong. enjoy. |

Setting everything else aside, there's nothing ambiguous about playing two seats in the same hand at the same table of an MTT. There's enormous consensus that anyone who does this should lose whatever they win in the MTT. Those who disagree are either blinded by some kind of defensive rationalization instinct or have an idiosyncratic view of cheating.
Your diatribe against party is incoherent and beside the point that ZJ already copped to the offense that is overwhelmingly worth the punishment he received from them. |
