[ QUOTE ] did the dad pay the restaurant to sing happy birthday? you cant be this stupid. [/ QUOTE ] Yes. He paid the restaurant for dessert with happy birthday. He negotiated a deal with the hostess where he got this for the same price as only dessert would normally cost. [/ QUOTE ] you are a [censored] idiot. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Lolololol. I hope you understand that the above is completely different from the situation at hand. It's another story if the father was paying extra for the song and dance routine. [/ QUOTE ] How exactly is this different? He was not paying extra for blueberry pie in stead of banana splits. They are the same price. [/ QUOTE ] did the dad pay the restaurant to sing happy birthday? [/ QUOTE ] Yes. This is no way different than the blueberry pie thing. |

Of course I see that there are differences between these situations, but both are him buying/ordering something and getting something else. [/ QUOTE ] When you pay for something you are entering into an agreement with the establishment that you pay $xx and get Y. Since he isn't paying for the song, he doesn't have any claim to hearing it. |

guids is so right. This birthday crap is so annoying even at chain restaurants. I am glad the owner stood up to the customer. Also, wtf is with the kid...your family singing is not good enough for him? He should be happy his family takes him out to a nice place to eat for his birthday. Kids these days, nothing is good enough. [/ QUOTE ] |

Sounds like they had made an agreement to me. |

Hudge props to the restaurant for taking a stand against the birthday song. Ruins my evening every time.
That said, the hostess shouldn't have misrepresented your dining experience to you. So pretty douchey overall. |

The restaurant specifically agreed before seating them that part of the Y they were paying for was that they would sing happy birthday. If the singing is stupid or annoying to the other customers, then they shouldn't have agreed to it, but they did. |
