Does anyone have any broad strokes guidelines on when to fold overpairs? If I can figure that out, I'm pretty sure I can add like 3BB/100 to my winrate. [/ QUOTE ] Run Slag/Lag or there abouts and you can get away with never folding 'em |

Even if I wanted to run LAG, UB makes it next to impossible. My TAG game has improved since the move there, just because the software makes it hard to do anything else while 4 tabling.
But seriously, I needs the help. I think part of it is when I get AA/KK, or QQ as on overpair, I feel entitled to someones stack. Maybe I'll go through PT and see what separates the good stackings from the bad ones. |

I have perpetrated 3 big suckouts today and it feels better than ANY sweet play I pull or stacking I force. Hero's hand is first:
1. JJ v. KK aipf, villain 1/2 stack...I 4 flush the board. Get in! This always happens to the other monkey - but today it happened to me!! Today I am the monkey!!! In. Your. Face. Poker. You. Bastard. 2. Overpair v. set ai on flop...I hit runner runner straight...That's runner runner str8 I say!!! It's impossibe!! Not it's not!!....shiiiiiipppppp the monies over here you half-stacking monkey idiot. Loving it ittiittitittititi! 3. Set v. flopped str8....turn 6, river 6...number of the beast baby yeah!! I suck out sooooo gooooooooooot! Being a donkey [censored] rocks. |

Change your mindset from overpair to ONE PAIR for one.
Then its just about judging the ranges/player - Everyone gets stacked by sets when they hold overpairs i reckon! |

vs pretty solid player i thought. I was sitting with friends, and told them, look i raise here to get info, and get value out of worse hands, but if he pushes im obviously folding:
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1242192 I felt so stupid here :/ Sometimes i dont have discipline to lay it down and call like a donk. I also felt i shoulda reraised him pre, and was sorry about it when he pushed cos i just knew he had me beat. dont tell me th estandard stuff, cos i had to fold . I cursed at myself even before seeing his cards. |

Shizz mate, last week you are in despair at 50NL, this week you are passing on wisdom to friends about 100NL! I'm not hating on you at all here, it's just a bit, er, unstable.
Also, what hands are you getting value from when you raise flop? (Serious q. btw). KQ and draws? Dunno, I think those are a small part of his range. And the raise size might also price AKdd in. The other thing I was gonna say was you bet for info and got it blah, blah, but you already mentioned this in your post so I won't labour the point! |

Next step is to consider board texture/villain. Next, think about context of the hand (3-bet pot I goez broke every time w/ overpair). The biggest thing my mentors have taught me is that in every hand, villain tells a story, but are you listening? Break down his story and find out WTF he has. Also, overpair > 1pr, somewhat. Learn when to pot control, when not to pot control. |

i have exact opposite opinion. nl50 to me is unbeatable right now. with good table selection it becomes a lot ezier, just watch out for the regs. [/ QUOTE ]I always use good table selection but since moving up to the $50 my multitable ratio is 4.97 where at the $25 it was just over 7, I like to 9 table. Using good table selection I find I'm hardly ever in pots with regulars except for against IronLaw who table selects the exact same way I do which is friggin annoying. |

TR from yesterday:
Id say I got up about 11ish, sat around and just relaxed for a little. AT about 230, Cumolo finally came ohme from hanging out with a chick he met a few nights ago. Give him a hoo-hah two times thursday! Anyway, he passes out, I do the same, and we all wake up around 500ish to head to dinner at 630. Dinner is a Salt Lick at the Red Rock Casino, about a 25 Minute drive from the mansion. THe food was great, but the management at the restaurant left a lot to be desired. Anyway, a LOT of people showed, too many to list. However, two people in attendence that it was nice to meet were Mat Sklansky and his girlfriend Kiera. BOth were real intersting and fun to talk to. THe activities beofre and after dinner were, well, degen. TT decided he wanted to play chinese poker, so he went to the giftshop and got 2 decks of cards, one for poker, other for flips. Flipping started innocent enough: Isura, carrot and cap of water for 40 each. It envolved quickly and ended up with tufat down 1500 from flips, not to mention a 500 blackjack hand. The bill ended up at 1142, and we managed to collect 1150, so go us. Off to Caesars for drunk 2/4. We all arrive at caesars and have 4 tables in the back to ourselves, a private 2/4 game where the dealers instructions were "let them do what they want". The floor, I must say, was if anything, over accomdating and great to our party. A special thank you to Chris (or Mike, I forget), the night floor manager at Caesars for everything; as he was a true professional. Also thanks to TT for setting up the games for us. My table consists of me, 42it, oki-oki, TT, Triumph, goofy, slap my jack at first. The floor brought over 20 racks of $1 chips, of which we all bought and started to stack, as well sa triumph placing 3k behind and goofy like 1800ish behind. We start off with stud/8, and well, no one besides TT or triumph really knew WTF was going on, but oh well. The first pot was almost 3 racks big, but it was a chop. A few hands in, TT, says he invited a few people, they will be around shortly. They arrive, its none other than Flsexduck, Vanassa Selbst (she FTed a TV donkament last year and was 3rd in the HU donkamnet this year). SHe immediately buys in for like 1k, all in chips, no cash. Next game we play is crazy pinapple, when during pokernews reporter, Tiffany Michelle stops by and talks to TT and us for a little. I finally win my first pot in pinapple, and at the completion of that round, tiffany and TT go for a walk to discuss some business and what not, when no other than 2p2 founder and owner Mason Malmuth sits down and was start playing some Badugi. Its nice to talk with Mason, he is a real interesting guy with a lot of knowledge. Mason plays a orbit or so, and we get over to some 2-7TD. I actually do know a little about this game so I win a few pots. TT, who has to work in hte morning, racks up and leaves as we head to the pass the trash round for holdem. We go to double flop Omahahaha next, and then some razz, when DJ Sensei shows up. Shortly after the razz round the table next to us racks up, I decide to join. Me, Smell, oki-oki, claunchy and wolfram decide its craps time, and head over to O'sheas (busto ass casino). On the way over, we see that someone had placed soap all in the fountain at Caesars, it was pretty funny looking. Osheas was packed, so we hit the next busto casino, the flamingo. We find a 15 dollar table, and let the fun begin. Wolfram had never played craps, but with some coaching from me, we all had a great time. HIghlights include me actually walking away up at something here, and oki-oki placing 2 500 bets, one on the pass line, one on the dont. AFter about 2 or so hours, we decide lets head back and have some fun at the house. Myself, tufat, silent noise, smell and oki-oki head back to the mansion, me being the only american. Those 4 gentlemen smoke a nice blunt while I start making up some food for us. All 4 get pretty ripped, including oki-oki being high as ive ever seen anyone. He is still passed out on the couch. We all eat our munchies, watch some TV and shoot the [censored] till like 530, when we call it a night. Once again, a very special thanks to the night floor manager at Caesars poker room for hosting and well, encouraging our debachary, it couldnt of been done without him. ALso thanks to TT, Vanessa, Mason, Mat and Tiffany for showing up and saying hi. It was a pleasure to meet all of you. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well i got 29 buyins for 100NL, so why not play there? By his range i meant a Queen or a flush draw or lower pair that he might call with. If he shoved (he wouldnt do that with something i got beat) i had to fold. But sometimes, and thats a huge leak in my game, i cant fold certain hands when i should. like 25% of the time. And well i had a 7bi downswing at 100NL (or bad day) and I didnt whine about it here! But how would you play the hand then? |
