I have a Pandora station that I use all the time and have spent countless hours editing. It still stinks at times (damn them throwing in random crap), but it's mostly house & techno type stuff. Might want to give it a shot sometime. A lot of what was mentioned in this thread is on my station :

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] FWIW, I think Tiesto is so 2001. [/ QUOTE ] lol Yugoslav [/ QUOTE ] Tiesto is SO 2000. 2001 is being generous. All of his stuff that I still listen to is 99 I think... Space Age 1, I love that mix. [/ QUOTE ] In Search Of Sunrise (2000) Summerbreeze (2000) Ok, I concur |

Elements of Life is amazing too, I hate you all, .
Anyway, I'm going to the electronic daisy carnival on Saturday and I know a bunch of House or whatever artists/DJs will be playing, if anything seems particularly awesome, my DJ friend says it's *definitely* House, and I remember the random ass name, I'll post it here later. fwiw, the easiest way to determine if you're listening to house music is to determine the tempo... 120-130 beats per minute and it's the funky fresh house in your ears.
dj dan, bad boy bill, and fatboy slim are all good places to start. and what mason55 said is absolutely correct... don't bother with albums, try to find live mixed sets from a few different DJs. from there, it's easier to get a feel for what you like and don't like, because the variety is a little overwhelming. wikipedia has a fairly long entry for 'house music,' as well. |

Commercial, but there's not necessarily anything wrong with that. From Ishkur's Guide, if you click on Hip Hop: "Rap Music was invented by Blondie" |

[/ QUOTE ] seeing how i'm running good at the tables right now, i have the new chemical brothers 'we are the night' that's coming out next week, and the next few people that pm me, i can drop a link, if that's legal...i would've posted it, but i'm sure that's probably frowned upon! |

If you don't consider Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, or Groove Armada as House Music, then what do you think House music is? [/ QUOTE ] I would call Daft Punk "electronica", B Jaxx deff house, and GA is more like some pop/house/electronica band. If u are new to house and want to learn what it is about, you should seek for a dj compilation from Danny Tenaglia, Terry Lee Brown Junior, Todd Teryy or something like that. They all have dj compilation albums. House music is a sound developed in Chicaqo 20 years ago, and these dj's represent that sound better than daft punk, and they all deserve the repect that "trance" dj's like Tiesto shouldn't be getting. |
