Could America elect a female president? Sure, why not? Could America elect Hillary? Different question.

Anyone who thinks she's a Bill clone, she's not. Although I was not a Bill fan, he's the kind of guy you'd like as a neighbor, have him over for a beer, shoot the bull, tell jokes, etc. With Hillary, there's something cold and dark in her soul. I don't completely eliminate the possibility of voting for her, a great deal depends on the Republican nominee, but I would do so reluctantly, for I just don't trust her. The exerpts fron Carl Bernstein's new book on her only confirm everything I fear about her, she's got a mean, nasty, authoritarian streak in her, and anyone who's relentlessly pursued power as much as she has for 35 years probably ought to be kept away from it.

I think you're right about Obama. Democrats will be ready to elect a black man long before the rest of the country will. And I think the right would elect Fidel Castro before they'd elect Hillary. Edwards has probably made little impression on the average democrat besides being known for a helluva haircut.

They hate her THAT much? If that's the case the democrats should seriously consider if she's a good choice for their candidate. Sounds like she is a horrible choice.

A helluva haircut and a great big phony smile! That guy can go from serious to smiling in a heartbeat. I think it works against him. Someone needs to tell him that it doesn't make us like him any better.

You're right. Most people wont vote for Hilary but against her opposition. I hope she doesn't get a nomination. I'd vote for a woman, but she'd have to be in line with all my political views.

I'm ready for a female president as long as she's qualified and not a total whackjob like Hillary. Personally I wish an asteroid would fall out of the sky and land on the whole bunch of potential candidates we've got would all so we could start over with new ones. Hillary, Obama, Edwards, McCain, Giuliani...they're all total nutjobs.

BTW, I saw Edwards speak a couple of days ago. Ugh!

Actually, I think you just disagreed w/ me about Obama, although I'm having second thoughts myself. I think I should maybe swap what categories Edwards and Obama are in. Edwards may be more electable because fewer people hate him, but he's probably not going anywhere because he doesn't make much of an impression.

Mr. Mom gave my answer in the first sentence. Our opinions stray after that.

Frankly I believe the U.S. could elect a woman. Repubs were fond of Maggie Thatcher and some of us are old enough to remember Golda Meir.

But Hilary? Gott in Himmel, if that bitch ever is handed the reins of power, 2012 and the end of time couldn't come soon enough for me.

Edit: I'll take 1. Ron Paul 2. Whomever the Libertarians run 3. Fred Thompson 4. Rudy; Googol Hilary. If she and I were the last two people on earth and I was dying anyway.

What I meant was that Hillary and Edwards are more likely to become president than Obama, but Obama could possibly get the nomination of his party. I think a black man's power could MAYBE get him the top spot in the Democratic party(but even that's a pretty big stretch), but it wouldn't be anywhere near enough to elect him.

At least, not until Al Sharpton comes down with tongue cancer.

The Democrats have a problem on their hands. Their top three candidates are a woman (whom a very large portion of the population hates like the plague), a black man, and a haircut.

I don't want this to be taken the wrong way, though it probably will be. A white woman will win the red states before a black man will, and there was a fair amount of support for Colin Powell in the red states. The Democratic nominee will be Hilary. Obama would need a huge swell at the convention for the Dem machine to put him up.

Rudy will probably win the Repubs, on the strength of his 9/11 theme. Although Fred Thompson does put a wrinkle in Rudy's plans. McCain, though a war hero, is too much a maverick to be trusted by the Repub machine, he's burned them too many times before. He's out.

Kerry had a better chance of winning than the Democrats do this time around. Unless every single blue area voter gets out. Because the red states will definitely hit the polls to beat Hilary.
