Great.... Timlin's rehabing. Who goes when he comes back if its Lopez I am gonna be pissed. Hopefully its Pinero or Romero, neither of them are getting any innings and when they do they suck. I don't know if the Red Sox would try to send them down though since they don't have options and Lopez does.

You have to think one of our relief pitchers (aside from Papelbon and Okajima, I think anyone goes) is going to get traded to somebody, e.g. the Phillies or the Cubs.

i went to the pawsox last night, gabbard's start. timlin pitched and didnt look very sharp, most of his pitches missed location and the strikes he did get (under 50%, i forget exact balls:strikes) seemed like AAA hitters chasing. i'm not excited about his return.

ellsbury was impressive, even in a so-so game. he's so fast its ridiculous.

Yeah. It was 10 balls to 7 strikes. (And this can be misleading because if you chase a ball, it becomes a strike.) Hopefully he gets his command back quickly in Pawtucket or his time with the big club could be ugly.

Can someone explain to me what it means to have "options"? Thanks.

Options basically involved whether or not a player can be sent up and down from the minors without having to go through waivers where any team can grab them. I find it pretty confusing but more or less are 3 years as a pro a player needs to be on the 40 man roster or he can be taken in the Rule 5 draft (also confusing). If someone is on the 40-man roster but not the 25-man MLB roster he is on one of his option years. Each player has 3 options years and during that time he can be sent up and down from the minors as often as they like. After the 3rd option year to send a player down he has to clear waivers. Does that make any sense at all?? I doubt it..
