[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] This might be a good time to state preferences, as if I had the right to hold them. THINGS I HATE: Sales, customer service. I just can't [censored] deal. I'm not dealing with food, sorry. I like industrial / construction work okay, but hooo boy am I bad at it. I have no experience in anything else other than academia and cards. [/ QUOTE ] Your attitude makes you perfect for government mediocrity. [/ QUOTE ] When was the last time you had anything to say that did not consist of witty, lighthearted cruelty? (You think you can get me a check?) [/ QUOTE ] I'm not trying to be funny. You're broke and in debt and you've already set conditions. Have fun in law school and enjoy the DC happy hour circuit. [/ QUOTE ] This suggestion got lost but I like it a lot. Card please come to DC and be my room/mate. Or in atlanta, look up non-profit jobs. http://www.idealist.org/ Helping those who are less fortunate may not pay that well, but it's steady and rewarding work for the busto. CF Jesus Son the movie. [ QUOTE ] everytime i read anacardo's posts i think about the unabomber. [/ QUOTE ] I hear there's an opening in that field. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, but the pay sucks. Of course if you do blow stuff up, and get caught, you never have to worry about where your next meal is coming from. Florence, Colorado is actually a pretty nice place. Too bad you won't get to see much of it. |

The digs on 'Cardo in this post, while amusing, will only give him more excuse to ignore the good points that were made. Like this one:
[ QUOTE ] Your warped perspective, lack of mental discipline and apparent lack of any logical thought lead to some very strange ideas... [/ QUOTE ] 'Cardo, the reason this thread has become about you being emo is because being emo is the main reason you are currently sucking. |

[ QUOTE ]
Let's add now that I'm going to be living in suburban Atlanta; going without a car is, for the time being, entirely out of the question. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, but you don't need a car with $15,000 loan. If the car is worth at least the amount you owe, sell it and get a cheap used car, drive it until dies, repeat if necessary. If the care is worth less than your loan balance, you still might be better off to let it get repo'd. This will screw up your credit, but it ain't the end of the world. |

Cardo,
In simple terms what Burlap is suggesting is to change the tapes you play in your head. Learning to do this is more valuable than a boatload of psychiatrists and all the psych meds ever developed. You won't feel it until somewhere down the road in the fight, but changing your mental attitude is key. I like Blarg am a fan of taking action. You don't know much about finding a job? Just start. Google. Look up all the job sites you can think of. Do something. Sometimes the key is to just start. As a side note, I can appreciate the idea of not working for the man, and I have 18 years of being my own boss. How does one get there? You start by working for the man, learning a skill, then striking out on your own. The idea that you get to start at the top is self aggrandizing BS. Get over yourself and do something. i've only skimmed this thread, and this rather obvious advice has probably already been given.
but why not find someone who you consider successful and emulate him? |

[ QUOTE ]
I don't understand this idea that he's good with people. I've met him on two occasions. The first time, I didn't interact with him too much but he still came across as a little weird. The second time, we had more direct interaction and he came across as really weird, to the point that I felt very creeped out just being around him. If he has/had people skills, they are as negatively affected as the other areas of his life by this apparent massive depression. He's definitely a smart enough guy, but comparing himself to Einstein is downright silly, especially considering his skills are in completely different areas from Einstein. Logic, math and reason are not your skills, Anacardo. From what I can tell from the (thankfully) fleeting moments we've spent together and from your ubiquitous posts in these forums, your skill set is limited to intelligently and prettily writing about your warped ideas. That's it. Your warped perspective, lack of mental discipline and apparent lack of any logical thought lead to some very strange ideas, for which you use your apparent intelligence to be able to see and describe every subtle nuance in an enviable manner. In short, you sling some sweet-smelling BS. Maybe you should try being a propagandist. Work for some government or politician. Most people are stupid. You can take whatever BS your employer feeds you and dress it up all nice and pretty and even intelligent-sounding and cram it down people's throats the same way you've been cramming your mental and emotional maladies down our increasingly jaded throats. At least you'll get paid to do what you do best, and maybe it'll take your mind off your mind for a while. [/ QUOTE ] Yeeeeeeeeah, do I know you? |

I read about half of this thread and stopped. The DaveR and BPS pretty much nailed it. Cardo, I've got zero hate for you, honest, but you have to realize that you aren't special. And, sometimes you have to do something you really hate to get by. Nature of the beast.
PS---Who are you living with in GA? 2p2ers? Probably stated, but I missed it. |

WHY IS THIS THREAD ALL ABOUT ME BEING EMO. I JUST WANTED A [censored] JOB. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] the simple act of writing a resume, as though I had enough to fill a Chinese fortune cookie, makes me want to start smashing windows. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] We would do well to dismiss all options involving heart, salesmanship or going that extra mile. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] There are entire areas of knowledge / endeavor that feel like drowning in mud to have to deal with. So I get other people to know about them for me (agencies, forum threads.) [/ QUOTE ] You're cursed by self-awareness, aren't you Anacardo? |

Get over yourself and do something. [/ QUOTE ] you were already told what to do in your other thread. ignoring that advice is what got you broke. if you really are so smart (btw your top 5 claim makes you sound like an idiot), your lack of money will be temporary so you should instead focus on your real problem - you. you need something that inspires you, try: traveling meeting a woman (or man) that makes you want to make yourself better volunteering hitting rock bottom and since you will reject those ideas - just get a [censored] job, make a little money, and continue to waste your talents. |
