Jeweler says the watch is legit, but not worth anything until i get the papers that came with it.

To the OP who circled the swiss made that's on the watch, all submariners have that on them.

The guy did say that some of the counterfeits coming out of China are so real it's nearly impossible to tell the difference.

Apparently an obvious knock off won't have a rotating bezel, the time/date adjust won't function quite like a real rolex, and some of the second hands tick instead of sweep, but the biggest thing he said is the weight of the watch.

It's kind of an awkward situation though because I want the papers that come with this watch or i'd just assume have my $$$, and it's a big deal to me and likely not a big deal to the dude who gave me the watch, and i wont see him again for a while. I asked my uncle to ask him if he'd get the box and papers from him next time he sees him.

I compared it to a black subamariner and couldn't tell the difference so I guess i'm satisfied for the time being.
