wow. he has to be joking

[/ QUOTE ]

hes not joking. hes a complete douche. he thinks hes helping the guy by reparing his gambling addiction but it makes him come off as conceded and a dick.

theres a story by eugeneel a couple years ago where hes on a cruise playing 400/800 and this multimillionare drunk guy sits in and starts playing every hand and phil pulls him aside and says something like "what youre doing with your money is disgusting, you should stop." im pretty sure phil never knew the guy either.

[/ QUOTE ]

man if was eugeneel I would have been furious and on megatilt

[ QUOTE ]
And that goes to his character. The kind of people who would take repeated advantage of someone in that situation

[/ QUOTE ]

the player is an adult, and choose to play in a game

does he really have that much? makes no sense he wouldn't play HSP then, that's where he could get the respect he obviously is obsessive about.

[/ QUOTE ]

He sold his company (some software related thingy) during the .COT upswing for about $90 mil. He's definitely loaded. He's just not of the caliber of the other players in that game.

Um, no.

Rich guy wants to gamble, what is wrong with that? When you are at the casino do you walk up to all the table game players and tell them what they are doing is disgusting?

If a losing player is actually ruining himself by playing way too big, and there is some chance he would listen to reason, then yes it would be a morally positive thing to warn him. Whether this rises to the level of obligation is another matter.

Anyway the stories of Phil Gordon being a prick are legion.

Hahahahaha am I the only one that found it incredibly funny how close he was to crying at the end of that hand?

[/ QUOTE ]

Good grief. He got his money in with the best hand, got outdrawn in a tourney he desperately wanted to win because of [censored] like you who totally disrespect him (admittedly he's overly concerned about his image).. yeah he's going to feel a bit disheartened, so would you.

I think the fact the guy has $40 million and still cares as much as he does about excelling in another field says a lot about him. I have a lot more respect for Phil then I do for all the other independently wealthy players who are almost indifferent about winning or losing because of what they have away from the felt. I like his passion for the game.

Phil has some growing to do, but as poker players go he's still one of the classier ones I've seen on TV. He's not Patrick Antonious, John Juanda, Barry G or Chris Ferguson .. but he's certainly not Daniel, Gavin, Josh Arieh, Mike M, Phil Laak or Annie Duke either. Generally he conducts himself graciously.

Give the guy a break.

Phil?

first, i would think he would need to be invited...second, he's not stupid enough to sit down at a table with players way better than him...tbh, i think our ssnl players could wipe him out...
