I tip a dollar for pretty much everything. I got chastised by some people for tipping too small on a $250 splash pot, so you want to tip more there. But other than that, I tip $1 after showdown. If a hand doesn't make showdown, I probably don't tip, but I may throw an extra when the dealer ends his down, especially if I have several small pot flop folds or the like. (Not that likely playing LHE live, but eh.)
