"pleeeeeeeeeeeze split the forum"
"I think I would start posting if it was split"

just got this aim from a very good 109, 215+ player who used to post here a bit and who i haven't seen around in a looooooooong time

[/ QUOTE ]
Mind sharing his handle? If it isn't the person I'm thinking of, another $109/$215 player told me he stopped posting because there wasn't enough good discussion

another big point is that many of the hi people don't have time to go through the forum every day all day, they probably miss chances to post on a lot of stuff because its already died with the new inflow of posts etc by the time they come back to the forum

[/ QUOTE ]

This is the best point I've heard so far. If I go a day w/o reading STTF I have to wade onto the 2nd or 3rd page to find where I left off. If some high-stakes dude comes in after a week, it may be pretty tough for him to sift through 7 pages to find one or two interesting threads that he may have some input on. I have no problem with the high stakes people having a little more room to roam, because of the obvious benefit they offer all of us in airing their strategy discussions in public.

That whole thread where GB and Strassa, et al, got into that huge think-tank over A8, was awesome to me. If nothing else than to just see how really good SNGers think, and how intense they can get into one seemingly insignificant hand. If the high stakes forum has a chance to produce more stuff like that, I think ultimately it's good for everyone.

sure, we could split the forum into speed high, regular high, speed low, regular low, oot, etc, and people will still bitch about things. It will also kill the sense of community we have here.

I think the idea sucks, but I'm really not a significant source of playing knowledge around here. It is likely that many would read one forum, so what you need to decide, is it worth losing a good portion of the group from one board or the other.

In all honesty, with a wife and 4 kids and lots of playing/earning time needed, I spend more time than I should now. If I had 2 forums, I would likely see where my freinds were mostly posting and just read that one. If that didn't work out I would likely just drop in now and then and stop trying to keep up.

My random thoughts

Theres soooo many 22-55,109ers that are good and give good advice. Us low stakes players dont "need" the best players advice. We can get to the next level with other players advice. I say split.

ok, perfect world. the forum gets split. the elites get their owne area, what happens to the low stakes people ? who will be here to help us make our way to the next level save for a few benevolent high stakes players wishing to take a few steps off their high horse and do a few minutes of community service ? why even have a low stakes forum in that regard?

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a good point. This will hurt the players at the 55s-109s or wherever the split is way more than it will help the $215 player who just wants 20 high quality threads in front of him at one time.

[/ QUOTE ]

The 'elite' players aren't the ones responding to the majority of the low stakes posts, it is other low stakes players.

I think having a forum devoted to higher stakes hands is a good idea. I've been coming here sporatically over the last couple of months, but I don't like picking through all the garbage to find an interesting discussion. I promise to post more (some?) if the forum gets split*.

*I've told myself many times in the past that I would do this, so its hardly a guarentee.

there are many many good players/posters who only play low stakes...for a number of reasons

unless they have moved up i can think of lori, bones, yugo (world champ bitch! ), durron and many many many more

some are working to move up, have done it and prefer low, bankroll issues whatever it is....there are a lot of people to post to hands in both forums

beleive me man, it sucks to post a $200+15 hand and get 26 replies and 19 of them are people who've never in their life played a buy-in above $50+5

[/ QUOTE ]

i completely understand, i'm just trying to play some devil's advocate
