i would go out and find a local free poker league here in texas we have Barpoker, id play some nano limit poker anything that will get you playing cards without a lot to loose. If you want books to start with id pick up Poker Essay 1-3, these should help with getting started, since u want to go with holdem id pick up Ed Millers book and SSHE, and work from their, since you will likely not begin as a winning player rakeback deals and bonus will be a good idea, and well if your starting out in the lower limits they will dwarf your initial winrate.
