I think your post is fine if u remove the 100% guaranteed part. Also no one has claimed him as the next Pace etc...but he's has been viewed as being close to that level.

The Browns have no RB and no QB- Jamal is a backup behind their o-line...plus Crommel might get some leeway if he draft Brady Quinn but he's a goner after this year if he takes Thomas.

Savage was hired by the Browns specifically because of his ability to scout players in the draft, he will be making the picks not Crennel.
Savage and Crennel have both publicly stated that the o-line has been a serious problem since the Tim Couch era, and the biggest signings last and this year were on the O-line so I wouldn't expect them to pass on Thomas unless they think Steinbeck will suddenly cause a troubled unit to gel, especially not for an injured RB. If they did pass on Thomas it would be for Quinn (god i hope not), not Peterson.

Whatever happens they will have to pick betwen three of these five guys

Russel
Thomas
Johnson
Peterson

Of those five only Peterson looks to be a mistake, i can live with any of the others.

If the Browns draft Quinn I'm picking a new team to be a fan of. Peterson is a mistake, but hell, they've made dozens of mistakes.

No way Lions pass on Quinn. Kitna is not the QB of the future for the Lions. He is an inconsistent, mistake-prone journeyman. Their O-line is set. They got Bell at running back. They have a bunch of receivers. The missing element is a quarterback.

Yes, they do need defensive help. But they probably go for that in the second round with Charles Johnson or Anthony Spencer.

I think pretty much every team would benefit from the addition of CJ [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Thomas would be a nice addition for them but they really can't afford to trade up (they need more picks, not less)

They've already got AJ though. With him there, they won't get enough out of CJ to mkake it worthwhile to trade up.

I know they have a lot of holes, but I'd feel better knowing they had their left tackle. Plus, trading down is a good way to replace a buncha just guys with a buncha other just guys.

True but your not considering two things
1. Matt Millen
2. Mike Martz - thinks he can turn even a 7th rounder into a stud QB.

If they stay at #2 they pretty much have to take Quinn..you can't take Gaines that high..but if they drop a couple of spots it will be to take Gaines most likely

There is increasing speculation around the league that the Raiders are still torn between selecting LSU QB JaMarcus Russell and Georgia Tech WR Calvin Johnson with the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft. There is a sense around Raiders camp that owner Al Davis is leaning slightly toward Johnson but knows he needs to solidify the quarterback spot before he can pass on Russell.

David Carr is the best available free-agent quarterback at the moment, but Oakland does not appear to be one of the stops on his current tour, which has included visits to Carolina and Seattle. There are also reports of the Raiders' interest in Lions backup QB Josh McCown.

An interesting side plot to all of this is the precarious situation the Lions would face if the Raiders do, in fact, pursue McCown. On one hand, the Lions would like to trade McCown for a pick (likely fourth or fifth round), then replace him with either Drew Stanton (Michigan State) or Trent Edwards (Stanford) from the second or third round of the draft. However, trading McCown to Oakland and allowing the Raiders to pass on Russell and take Johnson could nix a potential deal with the Buccaneers, who have shown interest in trading up to No. 2 in order to draft Johnson.

Moreover, if Oakland gets a veteran quarterback before the draft, signaling that Johnson is the likely pick at No. 1 overall, the entire top of the draft board would be thrown into flux.

If the Raiders pass on Russell, don't be surprised if the Browns pursue a deal with the Lions to flip-flop picks in order to secure the former LSU signal-caller at No. 2 overall. Remember: Browns GM Phil Savage has a long-standing relationship with Russell, who hails from the same hometown of Mobile, Ala., and used to attend Savage's camps as a youngster.

Assuming the Lions couldn't move down lower than No. 3, they would still be stuck with a tough decision between QB Brady Quinn, OT Joe Thomas and DE Gaines Adams. From everything I'm hearing, Adams is the early leader in that three-prospect race.

Pick No. 4 overall also would be up for auction, because if the Buccaneers can't land Johnson, they want to bail out. We might start to hear rumblings regarding Tampa Bay's interest in Quinn and/or RB Adrian Peterson in the next couple of weeks, but chalk that up to GM Bruce Allen and coach Jon Gruden attempting to draw trade interest from other teams.
