IMHO, Phil didin't call due to camera's presence...if this were in Bobby's room, he would have called it after 10 seconds...has everyone forgotten how he cleaned Andy Beal last summer at the Wynn for $14.5 million? the biggest win that The Corporation has ever had against the Texas banker?...he is the most fearless player and the best cash game player (perhaps with teh exception of Chip Reese)...butIMHO he didin't call the idiotic raise of Yukon because he didin't want to be embarrased on TV if Yukon flipped over AA...obviously BY most likely didn't have a set or straight as he probably would have slow played those, despite the flush draw on the board...for a guy that probably wipes his butt with money ( as previous posts, LOL), 300k bet on that board and holding KK is an easy call and he would have done it with his eyes closed, sans cameras presence...witness his $586k win in chinese poker against Helmuth a few days ago...

[/ QUOTE ]

Of course, big wins against Beal in limit hold'em and Helmuth in Chinese poker = instacall $300K with kings in NLHE against a player you have no history with.

Neither Phil nor I had played in the 100-200 no-limit game that Brad played in. We play in a higher stakes mixed game. I did try to get some info on my opponents, although I didn't really do much. But Phil doesn't prepare at all. He assumes he will figure things out in the first hour. His lack of networking probably cost him $300k this time.

Wow. I thought Brad Booth was a well known player on the tournament circuit and in the Vegas poker world.

I think Dan Negreanu on HSP2 said something along the lines of playing different and mixing it up because everyone will have watched the episodes of season 1 carefully, studying the other players (at least, that's what he did, picking up tells and other stuff)

So I guess this means Ivey didn't even watch HSP2, since Booth made an appearance there. Isn't this bad preparation when any edge is so important in a tough, tough game?

The Phil Ivey fans can't be happy with what they've seen. Other than making some loose calls pre-flop, Ivey has been playing ABC poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

He's been sitting at the table for what...2 hours real time? At a table with aggresive, experienced players, and not some fish from Chicago who wants some air time. Maybe all he will play is ABC this season but I'd still pay to watch him play ABC than to watch Eli or David Grey or Daniel Alai.

I'm pretty sure all this speculation about what Phil would have done had there been no cameras or in Bobby's room or whatever is all nonsense. These guys didn't get to where they are today by caring what we think of their play...I guarantee he plays that hand the same way again there, in Bobby's room, or on the moon. He had a read and/or a logical thought process of what could happen and he went with it...

Ivey surprises me with his lack of preperation, as Barry wrote. He did this in PS as well when he didn't know about one of the tourney rules and seemed kind of miffed (don't recall which one but I think it was last season), and I think there was one other show in the past year where he didn't know about a rule.

I guess these shows are simply window dressing for him. He makes more money in real cash games then he will on any of these made for TV shows.
