More than the last 10 years of your program?
More than the realistic chance at playing minutes?
More than 'connecting' with the coach and assistants?

I think the history gets the foot in the door- a lot of doors.
From there, it comes down to other things.
History also helps with fan base and exposure presentations that coaches make to recruits.

It's very important for a young man to be aware of the school. There is a reason Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, and UCLA can grab a kid from just about anywhere in the country. The kid is *aware* of those schools.
