Ken Burns' The Civil War. Many times. I'm particularly affected by the sequence after the announcement of the Emancipation proclamation [/ QUOTE ] Big agreement here. I can't even read the text of the Proclamation any more w/o thinking of that scene in the documentary, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and getting choked up. Dammit, there I go. |

All who said 'The Green Mile' - abso [censored] lutely. The book is also as powerful Also, the bit in AI where the little kid is left by his mommy in the woods while she drives away and he's begging to come with her, promising to try and be good and stuff...just kills me. [/ QUOTE ] One of the best books I've ever read. |

[/ QUOTE ] That bit in one of the Burns documentaries -- was it The Civil War? -- where Lincoln's writing of "the angels of our better nature" brought me at least close to tears, I know. It was such fantastic writing, about such an important subject, and so heartfelt, I was pretty blown away by it. |

Cinderella man, the parts where he tries to provide for his children but cant, or when he gave his daughter his dinner before the fight.
