Big agreement here. I can't even read the text of the Proclamation any more w/o thinking of that scene in the documentary, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and getting choked up.

That bit in one of the Burns documentaries -- was it The Civil War? -- where Lincoln's writing of "the angels of our better nature" brought me at least close to tears, I know. It was such fantastic writing, about such an important subject, and so heartfelt, I was pretty blown away by it.
