I didnt read the entire post, but Ill make a few assumptions.
1. you dont work in California 2. your boss(HP) probably got his ass chewed, based on the fact you said he was upset when you told him. 3. Your ability to play may be restricted. If I m paying someones salary and allow them to play and teach on the clock(not sure exactly what your situation and contract allows you) then I am not paying you overtime and 1/2 of your taxes for said overtime if you are working 60 hours a week playing 4-5 rounds per week(I know this is higher than you say, but look at it from a HR point). You should ALWAYS take it up with your boss, the GM at our facility is also the type that needs to see everything that is going on. The problem that you opened in you situation is that by jumping your boss and taking it up with the GM is that you say you dont think your boss can handle it and you dont trust him to handle it. If your boss were to leave because of this(not saying this is something that will send him packing, but you never know) is that your GM will be hiring the new HP, he is going to find someone like him(do you really want 2 of them there?) tobdog |

Tob,
I think you have a complete misunderstanding of the situation based on: "The problem that you opened in you situation is that by jumping your boss and taking it up with the GM is that you say you dont think your boss can handle it and you dont trust him to handle it." |

The golf industry is still very "old school" those older than me are used to it, there a re a lot of younger and newer people that have no problem firing up a torch to the top bitching about problems, I have seen many hourly employees fired by someone in between for going over their head for a resolution, my guess is here his GM was not aware he was allowed to do this.

Ok, I see what you're saying now. I thought you read it like the direct boss clocked him out, and he went to the GM to complain about it. Nevermind.

[/ QUOTE ] I've always been told that if you have an issue with your direct boss, you should talk to HIS boss. So I mean even though you misunderstood the situation, I think that would have been the proper way to handle it anyway. |
