Default Re: Poker is harder?

Did you just take Writing 100A in your public university? I'm kinda flattered you just did a full rhetorical analysis of my post.

Nevertheless, I'm amused and will bite.

[ QUOTE ]
1. [ QUOTE ]
One note on OP, he is either a troll, or just a big idiot. As of now, I can't really tell.

[/ QUOTE ]

1. an ad hom attack and typical--useless fallacy

Useless, none the less fun to use.

2. [ QUOTE ]
Like Aba said, 90% of poker is just sound mechanical poker, and the rest is making irratic plays at specific opponents. The HUDBOTs, having seen more hands, probably have better fundamental skills than you do, and to win at poker, that's all you need, especially at middle stakes

[/ QUOTE ]

2. Argument from authority--useless fallacy

Not useless. Someone with more experience in poker is bound to know something you don't know. I'm sure David Cross knows hellavu more about comedy than I do and has some truth to what he says.

3. [ QUOTE ]
Now, the statement that games have become tougher is true because no matter how much you "adjust", you can't bend these fundamental laws of poker or you become a losing player.

[/ QUOTE ]

3. incorrect--lol

Is this even a counter-argument? Nice use of lol, however, it really adds to your point.

4. [ QUOTE ]
They must remain intact, and even as one follows the fundamentals strictly, presently he simply cannot win as much as before because the average poker player have become better.

[/ QUOTE ]

4. Gus Hansen.

See next point

5. [ QUOTE ]
You can only adjust and bend the rules so much before you cross the line and start making -ev plays (fancy play syndrome).

[/ QUOTE ]

5. Gus hansen

Besides finding an easy way out and adding nothing to your argument, you've oblivious to the fact that Gus does play good sound poker most of the time. You are simply clouded by the masterfully editing done by the Travel Channel's editing team. Even he admits that he's not as buck wild as T.V makes him seem.

6. [ QUOTE ]
Also, please refrain from claiming only people who agree with you as absolutely correct. It makes you look asinine and a complete tool.

[/ QUOTE ]

6. I think your HUD is calling...

an ad hom attack and typical--useless fallacy

[/ QUOTE ]

Overall, your counter-argument is full of red herring--useless fallacy.

in smaller stakes it's all about grinding. if you play higher medium stakes or high stakes you may be right.

Why has this thread not been locked yet? OP give basically no evidence for his claim and all the replies are just one sarcastic comment after another. Overall a terrible, terrible thread.

Poker is not harder - players are getting better. that means table selection takes on more importance.
