I haven't read this entire thread but from what I've seen so far I've heard no mention of what a brilliant play by Ricardo this is. Clearly he knew Grimstarr could not report this to the cops and thus his chances of getting caught are significantly lower. Pretty stupid that he'd introduce him to his family and then do it though, people have killed people for much less than 130K

Riveros side of this hasn't been considered enough.

If this all wasn't true and Rivero didn't know about the rumour, wouldn't he jump on BBV and tell Grimstar to STFU and stop spreading lies.

If this wasn't true and Rivero is in on the ruse, why would he subject himself to years of harrassment from the poker community even after they "come clean". Unless he is really that hard up for monies and they plan to split the (ridiculous) donations coming Grims way.

If it is true, what would Rivero do? Be in Mexico partying with some hookers. This seems the most likely since I can't see any reason for Rivero to be in on intentionally damaging his own credibility (even temporarily).

Ergo, truthiness of rumour proven!

It's 50/50 that this is just a joke but I don't think it matters all that much. Still wortwhile for those of you who do sometimes travel with lots of cash to think about basic security precautions and what you would do if you were relieved of a large six figure sum.

If this is true; why does anybody think the police would be able to do anything?

Even if the guy was found with a suitcase full of money, how could Grimstarr prove ownership?

Also, won't casinos cut you cashiers checks?
