My advice. I felt compelled to post, I much prefer to lurk and learn.

The structure in the past has been on the WSOP site. I haven't checked this year. If you've never been to the WSOP before I would suggest getting there a day or two early, the live action is awesome, especially the Omaha at the Rio.

I also really liked the satellites. It is hell to get them going. The HE sats run like cattle, the Omaha is a little bit of strugle. Two year ago, my first WSOP, I was there for the $1,500 PLO event. The second hand of the sat., I'm in the BB and get to see a free flop. I had 3467 rainbow. The flop comes off 2 5 10 rainbow. I'm first and check simply to get the pot built up with this wrap. The guy right after me pots it and gets a couple of callers. It comes around to me. I love my draw so I repot, might of even been able to get it all in, if not it was close. Three of us continue. Now it's high only remember. I'm like what am I up against. The original caller had 34 for the open ended straight, so hes drawing to tie or drawing dead. The other player had a pair of tens with an ace kicker. My GOD!
The amount of money people have just walking around is amazing. There was one person who played another sat, that had never played Omaha before, he just wanted to play and there was only one seat left.

The satellites play fast, and cost I believe $175. I chose to play the side action last year instead.

The last thing I would do is look into the Orleans open. It overlapped with the WSOP last year and they had some great Omaha tourneys for around $300.

To the person who talked about a plo/8 tourney at the Cherokee. I don't believe that happened. That casino is my home away from home. I was there just recently for the Oklahoma state championship and we were talking about the plo/8 at the wsop and nobody ever talked about them playing it at the Cherokee.

Now the Cherokee did recently host the World's first duplicate poker championship.

PLO8 was played live in November at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. I know this for a fact, as I played in it. Squeaked into the money at 17th. I think we had over 160 entries. They are adding it to their lineup for the big televised series in September. And, they switched the Friday afternoon tournament from LO8 to PLO8.

I thought it was a $80+$20 no limit O8 tournament. I haven't played in it personally but that was what was posted on the Taj website in late October. I'm thinking about playing in it one Friday late next Month.

Last time I was at the Taj, I was told that 3 people entered this weekly O8 tournament. Yes, I'm being serious. Much like their weekly Stud tournament, which is also dieing out.

Most likely that Borgata is stealing some of the mixed game action.

My friend played in the Taj tournament a few months ago. He said there was only about 35 entries. It was also Pot Limit.

Well to be fair, the O8 turned PLO8 at the Tasj is on fridays at 315pm. Not the best time for out of towners - well before most people get into town.

I played the PLO8 at the Taj on a Friday, maybe the week after Thanksgiving 2006. I signed up while still in a Holdem Tourney and arrived at the table late (cashed in the Holdem). I think they started with 17 or so, I made the final table but not the money. The worst preflop hand busted out two excellent low draw hands with a low pair when a series of bricks missed all three players. Did the big PLO8 happen in British Columbia this past April?

Anyway, since PLO8 is so popular on the Internet, it's great to hear that they will be playing it at the WSOP. The schedule at PokerPages doesn't make that clear, but the official WSOP site does.

And briefly venturing back on topic, I played the $2000 limit Omaha 8/B as my first and only WSOP event so far. I made it about halfway through. I was playing over my bankroll so it was disappointing, but it's quite an experience and I'm glad I did it. I sat down at a table with the defending champion and feel like I played well. Good luck if you decide to go. I suspect I'll have to win an online satellite to make any events this year.
