Colson,

1. How does it feel to get kicked out of the crown casino?

2. where do you see yourself in 5 years?

3. when are you going to be back on the east coast?

4. do you have any memorable hands or tournaments where things "clicked" for you?

5. why are you so good at coinflips?

6. can you teach me not to get sucked out on at the FT of a plo event?

Im sure I have more questions some of them real but I cant think of them.

[/ QUOTE ]

1. LOL, I hate you. Yes Shaniac, I was asked to leave one 2-3NL drunken night with Nordberg. We were causing all kinds of trouble. I was cut off from the bar and some else at the table gave me a drink. They then said I had to leave because I was "looking at other peoples cards", which I was, but just Nordbergs (after he won without showdown) BUT HE DID IT TOO.

2. Uhhh, good question. If you asked me in college what my dream job would be I would have said playing poker. I've always said I'd play poker as long as it was fun for me. These days it doesn't interest me like it used to but the freedom and experiences it allows me to have will be difficult to ever leave. I'd love for a new passion to come along take me away from poker, but who knows if that will happen.

3. I really want to make it to NYC sometime soon but I've been saying that for a while now. The east coast poker tournaments are so brutal for me. I doubt I'll go for poker until maybe the USPC.

4. I remember playing the 11r on stars back in college and figuring out restealing. I used to just jam on anyone who opened from the button when I was in the blinds lol. I thought it was the greatest thing ever.

But as far as things really clicking I'm not sure. I think things clicked more from reading 2+2 and discussions with an email group I was lucky enough to be a part of as an extension of 2+2. I remember reading every single Clarkmiester and GuyOnTilt post back when I played limit. I didn't know what I was doing but I knew those guys were sick. And I remember all of a sudden realizing you can't just blindly put someone on a hand you have to put them on a range of hands and then use their actions as the hand progresses to narrow their range. That was a big thing for me.

5. I don't know, but the 3 big ones at the end of Deauville really changed my life.

6. lol make sure to thank Lee each time you win a hand.

Thoughts on the Van Halen reunion?

Thoughts on The Police reunion?

Five favorite bands of all-time?

Best large-scale concert you have seen?

Three favorite movies of all-time?

Just how intimidating was it to sit at a table with me in Event 2 last year?

Why did you let that guy hit his 2 outter or whatever it was? PROTECT YOUR HAND!

[/ QUOTE ]

No thoughts on Van Halen or Police.

Five favorite bands of all time? Nirvana, Arcade Fire, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, and probably The Stokes. Arcade Fire is currently far and away my favorite band.

A Sonic Youth show when I was really young (maybe 14) comes to mind, but it wasn't an outdoor large scale concert, just the paramount in Seattle.

Three favorite movies? Hmm, I'll go with Pulp Fiction, Royal Tenenbaums, and Rushmore. Wes Andersen and Owen Wilson are brilliant imo.

Haha, very intimidating. That hand was so brutal. The worst was it came right after I doubled up on a weird hand where I jammed something like 7 blinds from the sb with 74o on Paul Darden and he looked me up with Q6o for like half his chips. I of course made a flush. Didn't you say people were talking afterwards about how I should have bet the flop? lol

How much is poker a passion and how much is it just a job that you get bored at sometimes now? How do you expect to feel about this in 5 years? 15?

I ask because I'm pretty sure that a lot of the young kids who dream of poker, big bucks and a balla lifestyle won't think it's so cool when they're 40 and discover that they think poker sucks...

What do you think distinguishes you from the average, good, winning MTT player? Distinguish between live and online to the extent possible.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm honestly not sure. I don't think I do anything that special.

Umm, live vs online? I guess a quick answer is that I think of it as online is about situations and live is about your opponents.

I really don't see how you can put "Tennenbaums" in the same category as "Rushmore." What, no love for "Bottle Rocket?" Did you see "Squid and The Whale," which Anderson produced?

Which leads me to my question: Do you think Wes Anderson is in a creative rut?

Also, the Arcade Fire is awesome--I'm practically friends with them, too, since a former coworker/friend is, like, really good friends with them from Montreal, and I got to see them play at knitting factory in NYC a while ago and hung out with them afterwards for five or ten minutes (but I would have hung out for at least 20 minutes if I had known how huge they'd soon become). So, question two, are you jealous?

Also, can you go on record as another poker player who recognizes that The Wire is the greatest tv show ever? Thanks.

Carl,

please rank your top five Modest Mouse songs.

Edit: was 3, that was too easy.

[/ QUOTE ]

1. Lives
2. Karma's Payment
3. Custom Concern
4. I came as a Rat
5. The Good Times are Killing Me

[/ QUOTE ]

Colson - Is Modest Mouse one of your favorite bands? I guess by the previous question that is somewhat of a given...

So how does "Talking [censored] about a pretty sunset", "Neverending math equation", "Life like weeds" and "Stars are projectors" not make the cut?

How many hands do you have lifetime in cash games? I really struggle getting volume in, but it sounds like you may not be the person to ask about that.

Do you prefer, or seem to do better in, FO vs. rebuy tournaments or vice versa? Do you have a preference for either, and if so why?

[/ QUOTE ]

Sure I'd say they're one of my favorite bands. The songs you list are good too but the 5 I put up there are for different reasons my favorites. Cameron asked about Modest Mouse because we were talking about them in Melbourne.

I think I have somewhere between 150k and 200k lifetime cash hands.

I don't know what to tell you about getting volume.

I prefer and do much better in rebuys I think. I remember Shaniac saying somewhere that he does well with playing vs different stack sizes, like being the big stack and playing vs the shorties, or big vs big. I think that applies to me too.

I see you all the time in the 100r. Do you think there is still a decent amount of EV in the tournament? Do you think its gotten easier/tougher since party shut down? Who is the most difficult player you encounter in that field?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I think there's EV there. I think it's softer since it has more entrants these days.

Hmm, the most difficult player? I'd say Belowabove gives me problems. A player I was seeing very regularily for a while that I think is really good and underrated is scarface_79.

BTW, from what I've seen of you I think you play pretty well.

What's your favorite meal? Also, what's your favorite dish that you can cook for yourself?

[ QUOTE ]

Rizen of course comes to mind as I'm writing this, as someone who is extremely good at not letting this kind of breakdown happen.

[/ QUOTE ]

When talking about this subject, mattg and PearlJammer are the other two guys I mention along with Rizen. I don't think I've ever seen them do something silly and tilty to blow off a stack.

[/ QUOTE ]

A good steak is probably my favorite meal. I'm not much of a cook, can't do anything fancy.

Arcade Fire is good. I would fire some more bands but would just be called emo again.

It's not so much a passion anymore. It was a passion when I was more interested in reading books and discussing hands than I was in playing. It was still a passion when I started to play the big live tournaments. I still enjoy discussing hands and I still enjoy playing the big live tournaments but not like I used to. The thing is, this game has been such a big part of my life that I will always have love for it.

It's certainly a job that I get bored of sometimes, but not anymore bored than I would be with some other job. I could see in 5 or 15 years becoming less and less interested in it. But I don't plan on just playing poker for all the years to come.
