[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Samoleus, you come up with an hourly rate and a number of hours per week that over 3 years translate to 5 million dollars 4 tabling. However, party have only had 10-20 NL for, what, 9 months? So even if your 2200 an hour was true it would only be pertinent over the past 9 monhts and thus your total winnings in this game would be WAY less 5 million. So what was the situation - prior to the party 10-20 NL there was another game that you could 4 table for 25 hours a week and make the same hourly rate? [/ QUOTE ] Dean, Who gives a [censored]? -James [/ QUOTE ] James, I am a novice NL player. I play limit full time at the moment. I would like to mix in some NL. I want to make lots of money so that I can provide a comfortable life for my future wife and children, if I am blessed enough to have them. One of the two primary methods of learning NL I intend to employ (the other one being playing), is to read posts in this forum. I do not have the time/inclination to read every post so I will have to develop a filtering system. If a poster really had been as successful as Samoleus had claimed, over as many hands as he claimed, I would be faced with overwhelming evidence that he is an exceptional player who thinks about the game deeply and clearly. I would thus pay special attention to their posts. If this person had invented his winrate but I took it at face value and tried to emulate his way of thinking it could cost me a lot of money, which I don't want. It would also increase the chance that he is making other stuff up, such as the very hands he posts. Dean |

Dean, this is actually the first post from the "discreditors" that makes a lot of sense. however, perhaps you should consider that by all accounts (including those flaming me), I am a significantly winning player. At least two well respected posters have specifically said that I am the best they've ever played with. ... So the point that James and others trying to bring sanity to these threads makes is that it does not really matter whether I made the amount that I claim to have made or not. I am a winning player - so your concerns can be allayed. Thus, the focus of these threads should have been the real content and not the amount that I made.
Regards, Samo |

The degree to which one should heed your advice is dependent upon how badly you are crushing these games. If most winning players earn roughly the same amount by employing a variety of playing styles, then one might as well play in way which best suits his temperment.
But if it turns out that your playing style is overwhelmingly more profitable, then there are posters here who would do well to completely reevaluate their approach to these games. How can you not see this? |
