ultramon is not free - it costs $40. there is a month-long free trial though, as I said in my post above.

it is better than multimon and has some more features, plus multimon only works if each monitor is the same resolution (in my case i have a 20" and a 17", so i can't use multimon). i'd try the trial if i were you.
