Do we know what type of cancer the sister had? Was it that she had ovarian cancer/ovaries removed and Jules was able to still get her pregnant somehow? I assume this since she could get a male mouse pregnant, might be that some how.

not really, since Juliet has only been on the island 3 years and Alex is at least 17, hence the whole males giving birth on the time line doesn't work. Plus, Alex is most likely Rousseau;s daughter, remember?
