tried search and didn't see anything on it.
I just watched the movie Idiocracy. Solid 2 thumbs up from me. The heroes (Luke Wilson and Maya Rudolph) are in an army experiment and are put in a deep freeze. Through odd circumstances, they wake up 500 years later. Instead of finding an improved, advanced society, they end up in a world of morons. Basically, the dumb have outbreeded the smart and society has fallen to its lowest common denominator. Polysyllabic words are gone. Sentence structure is gone. Luke is called a '[censored]' for the way he talks, etc. It's like WWE meets Jerry meets Britney Spears meets SuperSweet16. Luke and Maya are now, by far, the smartest people alive. Good laughs ensue. The film is by Mike Judge, of Beavis and Butthead fame. Ironically, its a moral statement to have people read and think more. Paraphrasing, Intelligence isn't ghey. Watch it! |

The studio decided to dump it straight to video, despite Director Judge's protestations. It has gotten mostly good reviews by those who have seen it. |

A buddy of mine watched this and said (facetiously) that he now knows what I feel like every day. I'd imagine it has to be a pretty good movie, since I'm sold on Judge's credentials (Office Space).

I thought it was pretty funny and I really liked the character who played the president.

I thought it was decent, but I felt as if most of the satire was only surface level deep, although that might have been due to reading about the movie beforehand and expecting more. I feel like I should watch it again though, because I'm sure there are quite a few jokes buried within the purposefully garbled dialogue. I do wish FOX hadn't f'd with the movie so much, as the final product is probably different than Judge's vision, which could have been Office Space quality.

Before that, it had been sitting on the shelf for over a year. |
