Problem is when you keep folding to his 3 bets he is going to start 3 betting river with top 2 pair which he may do anyway. You should be able to beat even some off the rockiest players river 3 bet with the 8s here at least 1 of 13.

first of all, he doesn't have AJ here hardly ever given the action. second, he 3bets AJ here just about never ever. thus it's a fold. do you see why?

2 pair? all he has to have is AK and he has AA up(2 pair)
The river bet really really seemed like he hit his lone A and was thinking that AA and 88s and a J kicker was tied and worst so the better play for him is to obv. bet out. He did not give you credit for trip 8s he put you on KJ, AJ, or something less then trip 8s.
