I requested a WU payout yesterday morning and just got this email:
"As you know, up until this morning Western Union was our only option to send you your funds. However, we're pleased to announce that our eCommerce team has secured a new option for withdrawals: Check by Courier. With Western Union agents suggesting a minimum 72-hour wait for a completed transfer, checks would be a much faster solution, not to mention easier for you. If you are willing, we are prepared to revise your payout request and courier you a check free of charge." I just have to reply to the email or call them to confirm. But does this mean the check has Bodog's name on it? Isn't there a problem right now with banks honoring such checks? Or worse yet, will the check clear? I'm tempted to stick with the WU option, just to have cash in hand, even if I have to wait a few days. Anyone else have some insight about this before I call them? |

I did the WU method yesterday, and it seemed extremely sketchy to me (though successful). I had around $30k that I wanted to remove, so the thought of doing this 10 times seemed like it would raise the profile of my transactions to a level above my comfort zone. When I found out they now offered checks, i was happy to just request one. They assured me that my bank would cash it, and if my bank doesn't, well, I will take it up with Bodog. I don't know how much you need to withdraw, but to me, after having done the WU thing once, a check seems a whole lot cleaner. YMMV...

hey thefish, you have to check your mail box through the bodog software. Click cashier and then click your messages. I was waiting around for an email and didnt get one then realized the information was there in my bodog cashier. It definitely is sketchy though, i went to a liquor store to cash mine and thought I was going to get robbed. There were guys in there scraping together pocket change to buy 40s so when they saw the cashier guy count out $2000 to me and give me a 1000 check, i thought for sure I was gonna get robbed.

So why go to a shady liquor store? Go to grocery store, drug store?
I had one WU payout go through but they sent it to my old address.. so since that's 10 states away they wouldn't give me the money, have been waiting on them to fix the error. Figured that might take awhile so I made another withdrawl, still waiting on that one too. Checking account balance $16.23... Funds in limbo $1500.. Seeing Peyton Manning lose in the superbowl.. Priceless. FWIW I'd much rather use a check than western union, but it wasn't an option on my withdrawls. |

Okay, I called Bodog about the "check by courier" thing. I expressed my concerns about cashing the check. A very helpful and friendly support agent told me they had a 3rd party issuing the checks, that it was a Canadian bank, and that there should be no problems cashing or clearing. I told him to go ahead and convert my cashout to this method. He said the payout would be approved/processed later today and that it would take 1-4 business days for the payment transfer to be completed and the check to be delivered. I'll post again when I see it.
