ahahahahaha nh

why do you find this amusing? i think it's reasonable that samoleus offered the terms he did because they give him an added edge versus just having him and kkf agree on a time and start playing. i'm not n+2 leveling.

i think samo also has an added edge from the time he spent with the space program in the early 80's. when i googled for his name and read an old NASA report i believe the quote was "though best suited for the mission, <name omitted> is just too valuable to risk sending into space."

Well, just in case, I missed a few months of High Stakes Grudge Match Callouts and Samoleus's Past Achievements (p.s. rename pls). There's no way we seriously verified that sam was a professional soccer player and a chess champion, right? And for that matter, the $6m is still a mystery?

i don't think that sam's real name is a huge secret - but if you know it, it shouldn't be hard to verify both the bit about being a chess player and former soccer player. by the way, unless there's some extremely elaborate hoax involving multiple conspiring parties, i am quite certain both facts are true. i haven't seen his spreadsheet, so can't verify his winnings. however, my main points concerned the extra edge sam would have given the structure given his athletic and chess playing ability.

I dont think even Samo is deluded enough to lie about the chess and football stuff. Obviously he lied about his winnings, would do him well to admit that, but doubt he will.

I think he only said he was a USCF National Master, which for someone of his obvious intelligence would be a borderline trivial accomplishment. I can't think of any reason to doubt that claim.

i misstated something in my earlier post. i think sam's a candidate national master, which is just one level below master (i.e., uscf rating ~2100). not that it's a huge difference, but it is the kind of thing that i imagine some on these forums will harp on two months from now.

fwiw, i would not classify this as a trivial accomplishment. i believe it's a level that any intelligent and hard working person can achieve. however, it's not something that happens overnight. if anything it would require on the order of a few years of persistent work, which is not easy when you consider that chess is just a side hobby, and one which doesn't produce any substantial income at those levels.
