samo, why do you need all these stipulations to setup a hu match? if you think youre better than him than why not just setup a hu game without throwing around the word "freezeout"? then it would really be plain and simply about money, and not the egofest that youve turned it into. it seems that kkf is only putting up with your bs stipulations because he really wants to play you hu for his assessed ev. adding stipulations to these things is draining to both parties. what if kkf doesnt feel like playing for a while for whatever reason? now he cant because he has 10k locked up. thats retarded.

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe KKF wants to assess his skill relative to samo and that is why he is playing. The 10k lockup will also prevent KKF from pulling a dick move to get samo's goat by quitting part way through and talking smack regardless. ...although he could always do it if he got up 30k early enough lol |

[/ QUOTE ] i think this structure gives samo certain advantages. first, a freezeout takes longer and endurance becomes a factor. samo should fare well in this regard since he is a former professional athlete. second, in a long freezeout, both sides will have to spend time offline analyzing each other's play, finding holes, and determining how best to adapt. samo is a ucsf national chess master, and such analysis probably comes quite naturally to him. keep in mind also, that samo has an excellent understanding of the game, and will probably be improving his play considerably as the match progresses. frankly, it seems surprising to me thta so many people on these boards think kkf has an edge. yes, kkf used to play heads up in the ub 50/100 game a while back, and this game was the highest stakes regular online game at the time, slightly before the prima game became more frequent. but, kkf certainly didn't quit that game because he was so remarkable at hu play. if i had to set the lines, i would give samo a slight edge - maybe something like 7:6 or even 6:5. |

[/ QUOTE ] it wouldn't make sense for me to take this since there's plenty of action with the reverse odds. i've booked 10k on samo for 12k on kkf. it would be great if they bumped up the stakes. i think 50k is not enough considering that the side action itself will considerably exceed that. |

ahahahahaha nh [/ QUOTE ] why do you find this amusing? i think it's reasonable that samoleus offered the terms he did because they give him an added edge versus just having him and kkf agree on a time and start playing. i'm not n+2 leveling. |

i think samo also has an added edge from the time he spent with the space program in the early 80's. when i googled for his name and read an old NASA report i believe the quote was "though best suited for the mission, <name omitted> is just too valuable to risk sending into space."

Well, just in case, I missed a few months of High Stakes Grudge Match Callouts and Samoleus's Past Achievements (p.s. rename pls). There's no way we seriously verified that sam was a professional soccer player and a chess champion, right? And for that matter, the $6m is still a mystery?

[/ QUOTE ] i don't think that sam's real name is a huge secret - but if you know it, it shouldn't be hard to verify both the bit about being a chess player and former soccer player. by the way, unless there's some extremely elaborate hoax involving multiple conspiring parties, i am quite certain both facts are true. i haven't seen his spreadsheet, so can't verify his winnings. however, my main points concerned the extra edge sam would have given the structure given his athletic and chess playing ability. |
