[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Villain was 52/10/1.5 over like 40 hands. Also 52% WTSD and 60% W$SD. Never folds to a cbet. Was this river push fine? (I know it looks donkish but this guy was sort of a donkey. I thought he'd call with QQ TT obv or a straight.) I think your turn bet needed to be bigger to make this river less awkward. I probably would have leaned to a half pot value bet, but I dunno villian that well. If he floats fairly often I'd definitely go for check/raise on turn or somethin... [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I kind of get excited with the nuts. The problem is when I turn quads it's hard for me to bet closer to the pot as I really don't want to blow him away. He doesn't really "float" but just calls bets and doesn't neccessarily try and take it away on the turn. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously check raising a float is no good then. I would have bet maybe 10 or 11 on the turn (which is kind of a scary number, I can see why u did 9). I would imagine he'd raise any decent hand on the turn, like TPTK+ (this is probably a great hand for this guy), so this is the reason I think valuetowning the river with a half pot>overpotting and hoping he has a monster. Its very doubtfull even he would slowplay the turn when you've shown that you like your hand a ton by both overpotting the flop and hitting the turn pretty hard. I suppose another viable option would be pot-half pot- near pot. Probably best for showdown monkeys, where the other line is better if they really like to draw. Another thing to note about the river is it completes a four card straight. If he's likely to shove with this anyways over a bet, then don't bother overbetting, he probably won't call without the straight and you would have gotten it in anyways if he had the straight and just bet 1/2 pot... agree? [/ QUOTE ] I'm not too sure if this guy would shove here over my bet if he made a straight on the river. I think that if he had a straight he may be donkey enough to call the big overbet but not donkey enough to push over a river bet if that makes any sense. He said that he had AQ which seems to make sense. Whether he'd call a $20 on the river I dunno. |
