Hero is OOP with what is basically a HU pot; capping AKo isn't imperative.

It's not imperative, but with Hero apparently isolating on a short stack from the SB & being 3bet by the BB, I think it's for value very, very often.

I'd also add that if you are going to pass up value, you should have a good reason to.

Reason is, your being OOP blunts your edge somewhat, plus you can make some of that value back by raising villain's expected cbet when you hit the flop.
