Less possessions = random bounces of balls can help an inferior team beat an average to bad team with an incredible QB who is the best player in the history of the NFL . That's what will have to happen for the Chiefs.

Bob Kravitz from Indy Star had this interesting stat today:

Since 1978 there have been 40 teams that have given up more than 2500 rushing yards in a single season. 39 have missed the playoffs. The exception: You 2006 Indianapolis Colts

maybe because the rest of the team is a little better than "average to bad"

With an average quarterback, the Colts are average at best, which is what I think he was saying.

DT's Below Average
DE's Good
LB's Poor, terrible, reprehensible
CB's Average
Safety's Above Average to Good when Sanders plays, Below when he doesn't

Kicker Good - but hasn't hit a field goal past 50 yards since 2003?
Punter - Above Average (when we see him 48 punts this year)
Kickoff Coverage - Terrible
Punt Coverage - Terrible
Kick/Punt return (same person) slightly above average (retread who was in CFL last year and out of football before that)

Oline - Glenn is a first round blue chipper who is good but gets a false start nearly every game - Good
Saturday - Smart guy who has continuity with Manning - Above average to good - but overrated in the general public.
The others - late round Free Agent scrubs who are decent at pass blocking (thanks to PM's quick release)but cannot blast off of the ball (short yardage has been an issue with the Colts for years)

WR's - Harrison world class, Wayne very good. The others (Morehead, Stokely,) meh

TE's - Clark - above average but not to be confused with Tony G, Gates, etc., Utech, Fletcher - average.

RB's - Addai appears above average but Edge has proven how PM helps the run game. Rhodes - below average.

So out of this we have below average Dline, Terrible LB's, average to below average DB's, terrible special teams, "Pass & Tap" Oline that cannot road grade and benefit from the quick release and decision making from the QB. Two great WR's, above average TE and an incomplete at RB.

I would say that it is average to below average with a replacement level QB.

Okay, I see how you can interpret that now. But... so what? Is Peyton Manning out for this game? It's irrelevant.
