he shouldn't be. he's on the short list of greatest pitchers ever, especially if you only consider peak years. however, his numbers need to be heavily adjusted due to his run environment and his home stadium...modern guys like Pedro and Maddux were better than him, but people point to his (and Bob Gibsons) ERA to try to prove that the opposite is true (and they are wrong imho).

Go look at his stats and you should be able to tell me. Only 2300 IP, and of that, only about 1200 of it was really dominant. Plus, he played in front of a great defense and in a pitcher's stadium suited to his pitching style.

Ryan is a very easy choice. Who's a better pitcher: Blyleven or Ryan? They're both similar but nearly everyone will tell you it's Ryan.

Clemente is an icon, and it's hard to get a grasp on people's opinions of his playing ability.
