Default Re: New Fight Question

I think there's an interesting sub-question here:

Do the competitors know who the other guys are? For instance, if the boxer doesn't know that the UFC guy might go for the legs, he's in serious trouble, and may lose almost 10 of 10. However, if he is aware of the strategy of the UFC, he'll at the very least have a stronger chance.

If the UFC guy thinks he's fighting UFC rules, he'll be quite unpleasantly surprised when he gets kicked in the nuts, or gouged in the eyes. Even if he just thinks he's against a bunch of other MMAs, he might not use the optimal strategy. Kind of like playing too tight in a loose passive game.

Some very good points here which I don't think we can answer in the context of the question.

Muhammad Ali against a pro wrestler in Japan

http://www.mutantfrog.com/2006/11/15...antonio-inoki/

Ali was completely ineffective at damaging the wrestler and the wrestler had him on the ground once and Ali was covering his head cowering like a girl. It only got stood up because of an elbow to the face. GG smasharoo.

Ali has gloves on. This matters.

I know. As far as I could tell though Ali didn't land a punch. The point of posting the video was to show how ineffective boxing technique is once someone starts fighting you outside the rules of boxing.

I think he landed a couple of jabs, but to no effect. It really was uncomfortable to watch, though. lol. That's an interesting strategy against someone who only punches, though, laying on your back. It pretty much takes away Ali's effectiveness. I'd imagine you'd get some serious mat burn, though. Ali supposedly has a black belt in Taekwon-Do or Karate, but his kicks look pretty pathetic.

Hahahaha.

I almost thought you were serious for a minute there. Professional wrestler, joke exhebition match, case closed!

Pure ignorance. Michael Jordan would get taken down in less than 5 seconds by a high school wrestler

Hahaha. You guys are the best. Basketball, boxing, simmilar requirements in terms of handspeed and reflexes. Hahaha. Alas, the fact that this is the best you can do doesn't bother you at all?

"Yeah, well a guy from a completely unrelated sport with completely unrelated physical atributes would lose to a high school kid in five seconds 11!!!oneone!eleven!"

Also, you have no idea what would happen. Jordan might pin the kid instantly if there was $5000 riding on it.

Anyway, I'm done with this. You guys can continue on in happy great white hope fantasy land for as long as you like and then be surprised when boxers dominate UFC events if the purses ever become high enough for them to bother, which, of course, they won't.

Not at all. Kind of you to take a break from your hall monitoring job to comment though, I suppose.

See, that was trolling. No content, off topic. Combined with your post, it makes a delicous useless post sandwich.
