Facts can be so inconvenient at times. [/ QUOTE ] They sure can. Just like these ones. Link. "Most of the difference in giving among conservatives and liberals gets back to religion. Religious liberals give nearly as much as religious conservatives, Mr. Brooks found. And secular conservatives are even less generous than secular liberals." I love it when conservatives mischaracterize an issue that isn't even partisan, just to try to slam the media. This is about religion, not politics. |

There are a hell of a lot more religious conservatives than religious liberals, I'd bet.
(Most liberals' religion IS liberalism. The state replaces God.) So it's fair to say conservatives give more than liberals, no? |

Do they include religious orginizations in the "charity" category-- ie churches, synagouges, the televangilists?
If so, then it would make sense that the religious give more to "charity" than the nonreligious too. Since liberalism is liberals' religion, do they include campaign contributions? (Conservatives would win here too) [ QUOTE ] The reasoning that strikes me as likely true is that libs assume their good votes for huge government and the nanny state provide for the people in need and additional personal charity is not needed. [/ QUOTE ] This classification of liberals is so cliche-- we need to get a new one. The government over the last 6 years seems bigger than it ever has been in my short life. |

YOU have a future in the MSM. |

Confuse correlation and causation much, Rush?

And please, feel free to demonstrate the evidence that a secular conservative gives significantly more than a secular liberal. Or that a religious conservative gives significantly more than a religious liberal.
I can claim: "Blond people make more money!", which is an equally misleading statement. Being blond isn't what increases income, being white and coming from a higher class is. Correlation /= causation. You are being ridiculous. |

So it's fair to say conservatives give more than liberals, no? [/ QUOTE ] It's misleading, though, to claim that conservativism makes one more likely to give. |

(Most liberals' religion IS liberalism. The state replaces God.) [/ QUOTE ] Seriously, where the hell do you people get this stuff? It's hilarious on it's face but I'm curious as to how some of you guys write some of this stuff with a straight face. |
