If you want to do something, and can't motivate yourself, EVEN IF hanging around others solves the symptoms of this problem for some length of time, this probably isnt addressing the root issue and will need to be dealt with at some point in the future.

Lacky and I aren't trying to ride your case, we're speaking from hard-learned experience. You might listen to the 35+ crowd. We're not all completely insane yet.

I live in a poor college town with one of my friends from HS and play poker 40 hours a week. If i played with any of the poker players I know I think I'd spend a lot more time balling and lot less time playing. This would make me even poorer. The only benefit I could see is if said players were better then me and could help me improve my game. Also, I think I spent about 3k a week when I lived in Vegas, this was also my falut and obv not nesscary. I think in boring pitsburg you should have more movtation to play then anywhere else and that is not the problem.

good2cu,

I think you and goggles approach everything from completely different angles, . I don't picture him ballin' 3k/week no matter who he is living with.

What are you other interests outside of poker?
I know that you don't drink and want to meet chicks with big [censored], but outside of that I don't really know much about you.
Though I did here you say something in passing at Irie's to the effect of
"Doing well at World of Warcraft doesn't make me feel better about striking out with chicks."
Which makes me think that moving to whatever place would make you most social is what you need.

Having said that, no state income tax will pad your bottom line greatly which is nice.

Travel around for the next few months. After the PCA, play the 3 EPT this spring. I'm sure other STTF guys will be there. In between, split your time between Pittsburgh with your family, and various people across the country. I'm pretty sure anyone who's talked to you would be willing to let you stay with them for a couple weeks. At the end of this, head to Vegas for the WSOP.

Living a little bit with a lot of people will give you a lot clearer picture of who you want to live with and what you want to do with your life, and you can then make your decision at the end of the summer around the time your lease in PA is up.

two things

wasn't riding you. I was still typing my reply when the other was posted (yeah, i'm that slow and easily distracted)

the "i'll work if everyone else is" only works if your with the right group. most players play 20 hours a week or less. If thats really what you think will fix it, makes sure you hang with the smaller group actually playing 40 hours a week (my house is out though, teen daughters=no ballers allowed)

Come out to Vegas. No state taxes, and a few live sessions every month really reminds you how nice it is to play poker ONLINE for a living.

As STT players, do you think it's better to set playing time goals per week/month, or # of tournament goals, or both?
